The governor of Khon Kaen has decided to extend the ban on alcohol sales in his province until the end of the month.

Public places will also remain shut for much longer.

The moves were to bring the north eastern province more in line with the government bans, said 77kaoded.

The alcohol ban in place from 12th to 17th of April will be extended to the 30th of April.

The ban on the use of public places in place for 13th to 17th will also be extended to the end of the month.

Convenience stores can open for an extra hour in the evening - they will now be shut from 10 pm - 4 am instead of 9 pm to 4 am.

Dr Somsak Jangtrakun announced the revised measures yesterday at a Covid-19 meeting.

Is this as a result of an increase in cases in Khon Kaen? Saw someone wheeled through A&E whilst I was there on Monday evening with trolley completely covered over with plastic sheet on a frame like an oxygen tent.  Just asking, maybe total coincidence.

Nothing to do with increase in cases at all, he will have been told by people much higher up to extend the ban. He has very little control on what happens here, he is merely a puppet for the <deleted> government.

A whopping five(!) cases (officially) recorded.

Something very wrong here.

And the only reason for extension: be a good boy to his master and don't dance out of the line.

In defense of the KK governor: what would happen if the ban is lifted from the 18th and (all) neighboring provinces have a ban until the 30th?

Transport may be forbidden too but who wants to keep that under control?

The real mess is the chaotic head in Bangkok.

All governors are hired/fired from there and he is not able to coordinate some basic stuff?

From the outset it should have been a nationwide ban for however long, on a side note anybody know anybody with confirmed  Covid19 virus, not rumours not what the ice cream seller told you  but who you or your other 1/2 knows of personally.

What the hell has banning the sale of alcohol for weeks on end got to do with virus?

Nothing.

If the local population are happy at being treated like children they deserve all they get.

Nothing.

Nothing much to do with Corvid, more to do with a minority of people who continue to have drinking parties, so to try to get them under control they've taken away their booze, unfortunately the masses who are sensible have also been affected.
