PHUKET:-- A protest by about 50 villagers has forced local officials to shut down a hotel in Rawai from being used as accommodation for people under observation for COVID-19.

The villagers massed in Soi Masjid, Baan Bang Kontee, in Moo 4, Rawai, at about 10am.

Soon to arrive at the scene were Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos, Chalong Police Chief Col Sarawut Chuprasit, Rawai Subdistrict Chief (Kamnan) Charung Thaochan and Muang District Chief Anuphap Rodkwan Yodrabum.

Backward, uneducated fools. What harm could the people in this 'hotel' possibly do to them.

It is somewhere to isolate. ????

They should be told to leave and not return or they will be heavily fined.

Are they not breaking the law being out in a large group? From the picture above, it does'nt look like much social distancing is going on.

Need fast result testing.  Better for everyone involved.

Uneducated fools, and the powers to be give in.

It should have ended with the army called in and fines or confiscations for everybody protesting in these lockdown times

Well... I understand them, the location of the hotel is in high populated (regarding to Phuket) areas.

And to get to the hotel you have to drive trough soi where everyone lives packed next to each other.

You can't even park your car in this street without obstructing.

The authorities ought to had found another better-to-reach location at first and not in Rawai municipality.

As long as they don't want to kiss me or shake my hand, no problemo. ????

Imagine how stupid these people really are, actually you do not have to imagine. Now think of us living here and this not even being anything serious.

Imagine again how they would behave if problems get real, they will sell us of as slaves or throw us of a boat in the open sea.

They do not care anything about us or tourists, they only care about money.
