What snake is this?

Featured Replies

Anyone know what type of snake this is? It's in a bush by the path outside my front door.

Just worried it might be dangerous being right by the path.

as above, we had one wrapped around our garden gate not so long ago. Harmless and beautiful.

Yup, I'm 90% he's a whip snake.

As with all snakes, treat as venomous, most will leave you alone if you leave them alone.

If worried, or you find an actual deadly one, your puyai baan or village office should have the number of the local snake / monitor / bee / other creature wrangler to come and remove it safely.

I agree its very beautiful and just hanging, perfectly camouflaged in a bamboo bush by the path. Hopefully it will move on, as kids might walk by.

i dont think it will bite. they have reverse facing fangs ( or something like that ) and sort of have to chew down to get a good bite on so is reluctant to waste energy unless especially threatened. the venom they do have is, supposedly, similar to a bee sting. Slight risk of infection but nothing else.

That one is a whip snake but easy to confuse with another green snake, which will ruin your day... White lipped viper, not worth playing with ????

White-lipped pit viper (Trimeresurus albolabris)

If you get bitten by a snake, take the snake with you to the local hospital. If this is not possible take a pic with you.

My friend's wife was bitten by a snake. Sorted it out herself.

Google Lens is a good tool to find out the name of all sorts of stuff, snakes included.

Cool, top tip. If you get bit, cover in guacamole.

Yeah, whip snake, had one in my yard for a while ,timid, venom not much worse than a sting, and has to sort of chew on you, arrow shaped head.

I passed by just now and it was still there. Only this time had just caught dinner. Looks like a little skink:
