Hong Kong International Airport is testing a "full-body disinfection" device//EPA

Sun loungers separated by plexiglass. Blood tests and sanitiser spray-downs before flights. These might sound extreme, but they are real measures some in the travel industry are looking at to keep holidaymakers feeling safe and comfortable in a post-lockdown world.

It's too early to say when international travel might restart again - Argentina, for example, has extended flight bans until September and a UK minister has said he won't be booking a summer holiday anytime soon.

But what will overseas trips look like when they're able to be taken again? Here's what you might expect.

Way too early to speculate. Second wave and what else might happen.

Early next year is the time to speculate, when we know more about this pandemic.

We humans can't wait to get back to normal life again, and many don't comprehend the severity of this virus, or don't care.

It's not "severe" for every country. Not to minimise the personal tragedies involved, some countries are worse affected by lockdowns than the virus.

and what about those of us that think those precautions are a waste of time? It's like when they made middle England mothers drink their baby's bottle milk in case they were Islamic terrorists smuggling bombs on board. Tailor the precautions to the situation by all means, but one size does not fit all.

Just more reasons not to fly. Don't buy shares in aircraft just yet, IMO.

Those who stand to make a lot of money from vaccinations..

Can you provide a half believable explanation of  how they have managed to coordinate news reports, government  responses, co-opted the medical profession and all on a global scale.

Covid 19 is the thin edge of the wedge.  The natural laws of nature have been ignored for far too long., The planet is overpopulated, polluted by Human kind and the scientists find ever more ingenious, some would say irresponsible, ways to circumvent natural selection and the immutable laws of the Universe. This is Nature fighting back, and it will win in the end, if not this time, then next time, or the one after that.  Humans are stupid, short sighted, selfish and ignorant and this is the result.  Get used to it, it can  and will only get worse.

A bit harsh in the way you write it, but I agree on the substance

Nature doesn't need us to produce deadly virus. No lack of serious epidemics in human history. Difference in modern times is that local epidemics became world pandemics, because of our huge (over)population and too many travels (trains, planes,...)

All down to those pesky humans and their scientific developments.

Were you a supporter of Pol Pot? Want to turn the clock back when disease, famine and war killed millions and millions and life expectancy was considerably less for all but the elites?

The Black Death in the 1340s didn't do so bad, wiping out two thirds of the population of Europe and Asia (the known world at the time). Venice introduced a 40 day isolation period in 1347 for foreign ships (quaranta giorni ) which is where we get the word quarantine from. And it returned twice.

what needed is a comprehensive global birth control initiative .  too many stupid humans breeding.  most have no business have offspring. i suggest a license to reproduce.  one must meet stringent finical, health including genome testing for inheritable diseases and psychological  criteria.

While I fully agree that there are too many humans breeding,   do not at all I agree with your

"breeding criteria"   ..genome testing  "the perfect race"  that's stuff of WWII !!

some docs have spoken out and say there wont be any vaccine

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/03/health/coronavirus-vaccine-never-developed-intl/index.html

London (CNN)As countries lie frozen in lockdown and billions of people lose their livelihoods, public figures are teasing a breakthrough that would mark the end of the crippling coronavirus pandemic: a vaccine.

But there is another, worst-case possibility: that no vaccine is ever developed. In this outcome, the public's hopes are repeatedly raised and then dashed, as various proposed solutions fall before the final hurdle.
Instead of wiping out Covid-19, societies may instead learn to live with it. Cities would slowly open and some freedoms will be returned, but on a short leash, if experts' recommendations are followed. Testing and physical tracing will become part of our lives in the short term, but in many countries, an abrupt instruction to self-isolate could come at any time. Treatments may be developed -- but outbreaks of the disease could still occur each year, and the global death toll would continue to tick upwards.

Do you think there is an agenda about a vaccine going on, no more "normal" without a vaccine, hmm.

Yeah it’s a conspiracy by China to tople US and other western countries righteous domination of the globe and take over the world and enslave us all????

In short, Charles Darwin's "survival of the fittest" meets Mother Nature's "culling the herd."

I seriously doubt, after witnessing the cost of this global shutdown, that there will be another like it, unless a more serious virus comes along. What is more likely is that governments will better prepare for these outbreaks. Things like "mask alerts", better testing and tracing, isolation protocols for the most vulnerable, better distancing in close quarters establishments, etc. will more likely be the result.

Well said.

I was going on about overpopulation when climate change was big ( that seems so long ago now ), but not much support.

Possibly more lives saved by not having as many cars on the road than have been lost to Corona. Perhaps private cars should be banned.

Given human abuse of antibiotics, a return to plague killing millions is entirely possible.

If the lockdowns continue, poverty WILL be reducing life expectancy.

I hope that the massive drop in world pollution during Covid 19 will show  human kind what we need to  do to save the World and send a strong message to our so called 'leaders', but I doubt it.   Once this is over, if it ever is, humans will revert to type.
