CCTV footage posted by Thai Rath showed the moment a little girl dashed out from behind a parked pick-up. 

 

The mother of the child who had not seen the footage claimed that the rider had fled the scene.

 

The reality was very different. He had managed to take some small evasive action but this was probably enough to avoid the child being seriously hurt. 

 

As soon as the accident occurred the rider kicked down the side stand and attended to the child who was soon comforted by a woman at the scene.

 

The rider told Thai Rath that he had tried to get in touch with the child's mother to explain before the CCTV showed he was in the right.

 

His employer was prepared to pay for any treatment that the girl might need.

I saw this incident on Thai Tv the other day   motorbike driver was totally  not at fault

in the report I saw they said the parents had left the little girl sleeping alone in the truck while they went to the market.

way of popping into existence in my lane as this girl,

with a much higher momentum

Saw this on TV, the rider was totally blameless and reacted quickly to protect the child and ensure she came to no harm.

How on earth could the mother claim that the bike rider fled the scene? She should have the cctv tape rammed down her neck. The rider did the best possible thing he could in that situation.

Tar and feather the mother and force her to cross the street 600 times, blind-folded! - firstly for making false claims, secondly for leaving her child unattended, thirdly for probably already having had baht signs in her eyes.

 

The motorcylist is entirely blameless. And thank goodness the child did not suffer severe injuries due to her careless mom's neglect.

Frankly, I would have thought the mother would have been ecstatic that her daughter had not received more serious injuries and was full of self recrimination.

Was everyone protected from seeing the full incident  by editing so no one would be offended?

 

Happy the little girl was OK but if it was worth reporting by  the source I think it didn't require editing.

The mother is admitting that she's guilty of negligence by shouting and trying to throw focus and blame on other people. 

 

She should be punished.

He showed some quick reflex action there, could have been a lot worse.

he kicked down the stand and was off in an instant to pick her up and move her to safety.

No no no no no. This is Thailand, where she neglected her daughter and then blamed someone else when the girl could have been injured. Perfectly normal behaviour in a country where no-one ever takes responsibility for their actions. It's always someone else's fault. Always.

It is a reality that adults are ultimately responsible for the safety and management of their little children and roaming pets.  

 

This case begs the questions:  Where is the child's guardian?  Who has taught the child concepts of safety near / upon roadways?
