It turns out that earlier reports from Oxford Univ on their experimental corona virus vaccine trials in monkeys were wildly optimistic. Now that the 'final' report has come out it appears that it does not protect the animals from getting infected, though it may reduce symptoms.  The two articles below (in the public domain) discuss some pro- and contra's.

 

(interesting add-on: it was reported on May 17th that the Oxford Univ/Astrazeneca partnership will receive another 65.5 GBP ($79 million US) from the UK govt. for development/production of the vaccine).

Vaccines are a long shot (pun intended).  If it merely reduces severity of infection then that would be very useful, meaning that Covid 19 would be no more significant than the flu.

There again it looks like a pack of Marlboro Red could that too.
