webfact Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 "Ganesha" pig born with "elephant's trunk" has the locals scrambling for lottery numbers  Picture: Daily News  A pig was born in Sisaket in Thailand's north east with what many locals thought looked like an elephant's trunk.  They thought it resembled the revered "Ganesha" that many Thais pray to at shrines throughout the kingdom.  Unfortunately the porcine did not survive long - it's mother flattened it and now it will be enshrined in a temple so generations of future Thais can win the lottery.  On hearing the news Daily News reporters hotfooted it to Moo 5 in Thung Sawang sub-district where they met Thongphoon, 60, the owner.  Picture: Daily News  He said that he has three pigs used for breeding and one delivered a litter of nine piglets. The mum squashed two to death by lying on them.  One was normal but the other was what many have called the Ganesha elephant pig because its snout resembled a trunk.  Thongphoon said that when his neighbors heard about it they started coming armed with flowers and joss-sticks to show their respects and try and divine the winning numbers in the lottery.  It appeared that the farmer wasn't so convinced about the magic and refused to suggest any numbers.  But he said he was going to donate the dead pig to the nearby temple of Wat Pa Dongmee so they could work out a way of keeping it for posterity.  Thaivisa notes that weird births are often seen as portents of good luck and possible riches in a nation where superstition, animism, the Buddhist religion and luck are interwoven into the fabric of society.  Source: Daily News  -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2020-05-29  - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 3

Whats the different's in the Thais believing in this then some western countries believing its good luck if your find a 4 leaf clover or a bird <deleted>s on you, seeing a shooting star, seeing rainbows thinking a pot of gold is at the bottom of it,horse shoe open end up and the list goes on, so quit trying to Thai bash while your behind. 4

More proof that some posters think that just because a handful of Thai people do something superstitious (like the rest of the superstitious, worldwide, do) the entire population must be doing it also.  By the way, Thailand is not a third world country. 1

Give it a rest guys or just <deleted> off home. 1
