Fan repair?

Featured Replies

Got two of these Panasonic wall fans, one just snapped at the hinge joining the motor to the wall bracket. Asked at roadside repair man he said can't get the part, tried to ring numbers off Panasonic website but either numbers changed, no answer or just shops. Seems a shame to dump a perfectly good fan for a piece of plastic

Your fan is the Panasonic f-bu16t1 wall-type .

The damage is on a part that isn't breaking with normal use and ageing like the fan blades, rings and buttons are.

So it would be very hard to find a replacement part for your fan.

What you can do is looking for the same fan that has broken fans or motor, at dumps where people collect iron and plastics.

The new price for that fan is 1499, so not more then 500 for a 'broken' one at those places.

I've bought mine (auto-type) at such place for 300 which only needed a new cap and some rotor lubricant and it's now spinning happily in the patio.

Or if all pieces are there, try strong compound glue and tighten it with brackets.

Nothing to loose as it's already broken but careful with the wiring.

There's generally more than one 'roadside' that fixes fans and such. Trying others may yield a more favourable  outcome.

If not, consider your expenditure in time spent and just buy a new one.
