BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Wednesday reported no new coronavirus infections or deaths, marking 23 successive days without a domestic transmission.

The country has recorded a total 58 deaths related to COVID-19 among 3,135 confirmed cases, of which 2,996 patients have recovered, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government's COVID-19 Administration Centre.

Wednesday is the third consecutive day that no cases were reported. All recent cases have been found among Thais in quarantine after returning from abroad.

But they still won't open up the waterholes, didn't say girly bars, waterholes where you can have a drink and listen to some good old BS, sometimes repeated, and play some stick.

Talk about control ! ! !

So the question remains. How close are the official numbers to the actual reality considering the limited testing here?

Impossible to know but it does seem apparent that Thailand is definitely doing well compared to many other countries.

It seems like here is a good place to include this subjective video by a now quite famous and highly informative UK doctor Campbell.

The based in Thailand contact here is of the opinion that the Thai official numbers are probably close to accurate although he isn't in a position to prove that.

BTW regardless of what you think about this particular video I highly recommend following Dr. Campbell to help keep current on all COVID-19 issues.

I refuse to watch that channel full of scaremongerer sheeple.

It's blatantly obvious majority of doctors keep exagerating things to keep their audience interested in their daily reports.

The truth must be said and give kudos where kudos due, while other counties are still reeling under the covid with many new cases reported every day, Thailand has manged to flattens the curve big times, Well done Thailand...

Cambodia,Laos ,Vietnam all did better than Thailand.

Nothing extraordinary, it's obvious this virus was spreading very slowly here.

Up to you.

I refuse to engage with any members that use the moronic word sheeple.

Bye.

At some point as this continues it seems the numbers are believable.

Because, the older population here is not the healthiest.  So, you would think out of a population over 60 million someone would have transmitted it to a parent or grandparent. I am sure some got sick and just stayed home and gutted it out.

Some are saying Thailand got lucky.  Maybe, but the US for an example is an embarrassment.  Packs of people now walking around Vegas casinos no masks. Spiking cases they are already trying to call this a second wave when the first one never left.

Talk about all about the money.  Shameful selfish stupidity.

I still find the figures hard to believe. But, we do no know anybody who has been diagnosed with it, our friends do not know anybody who has been diagnosed with it etc.

But the relevant word is "diagnosed".

I'm convinced that the numbers are at least relatively low here. As low as the official numbers seems impossible. Also, I'm pretty sure that there were lots of mislabeled deaths in the early months.

My concern is that the public will take the official numbers too literally and slack off too early on mask wearing, etc.

Thailand is not an island and sooner or later some tourists are coming back.

So until it's under control globally it's not fully over here either.

Basically years.

They're doing well. Don't blow it!

Kids got to school today, looked like straight out of Contagion. Teachers with mask & faceshields and all sorts of social distancing things everywhere, masks obligatory all the time. It'll be just for a week and a half before the term ends, but good to get them back into the rythm. After homeschooling for three months I've acquired newfound respect for teachers and single moms.

Bit of left field question... Realize it's very small sample space I'm asking about.

Have there been many reports of farang testing positive to covid, excluding tourists? Specifically those living throughout Thailand.

I dont understand what is the point here... No domestic case for 23 days we didnt had domestic case for 28 days as soon as borders opened woth Austria, Croatia, Italy and Hungary cases started to rise not too much but yet... So i dont understand what is the plan of Thailand...lock the country down forever? And look at the China they had 200 up cases in Beijing... I mean everyone who can lock down country can have 0 cases but you cant lock it forever is because Economy suffer

No.

Thailand is opening up now.

But they are being careful and taking it slow.

I only wish my home country (USA) had done as good a job as Thailand.

It's a good question. I don't think there have been many at least from recalling the case reports from before.

Not seen any regional numbers for this.

Yes those figures are rather elusive...... the lack of even a token daily testing across all regional hubs in the kingdom is farcical as is the back slapping of Prayut and daily announcements of no new domestic cases from 70 million population.

Just lunacy to believe in the statements and any care for the population from this bunch......  a deputy minister a convicted etc etc  and what was the process of coming to power.

Of course the Burmese guys are guilty of the island murders not powerful connected family members,,,,,,,,,,,,

Their never were any jet ski scams with money going right up the chain

Their is no evidence of prostitutes in Pattaya......

They cannot open up with this policies, they are terrorized of getting new cases.

Nobody will come if they have to do 14 days quarantine.

I think they have done a good job. You can't hide mobile phone footage of overflowing hospital corridors.

Beijing's latest outbreak seems to be very interesting. 95% of confirmed cases are very mild.

After 200,000 tests a couple of hundred tested positive.

I wonder if this virus is beginning to weaken.
