Petchaburi: Hunt on for gang of three in two cars who targeted Krung Thai ATM

The deputy chief of Petchaburi province police has ordered the local police to instigate a hunt after three men attempted to cut their way into a Krung Thai bank ATM in the early hours of Friday morning. 

 

The incident happened near the Petch dam project in Tha Yang district. 

 

The thieves managed to open an outer door but were unsuccessful after trying to cut their way inside using gas powered equipment. 

 

The gang were seen by two people around 2 am. A security guard said that they were in a white car and a white Toyota Fortuner and had asked for directions to Kaeng Krachan. He thought nothing of it. 

 

A female trader setting up her shop got a closer look at the same men as they attempted to steal from the ATM believing that they gave up their attempt after seeing her and fleeing the scene. 

 

Deputy chief Pol-Col Somdech Thitwattanasakun said the thieves had not got any cash but must be prosecuted for attempted theft and criminal damage. 

 

Bank officials and police forensic teams were at the scene gathering evidence yesterday.
