I noticed a few months ago that it was becoming increasingly more difficult to find 5 litre boxes of wine in the supermarkets.

Now they have completely disappeared.

If I remember correctly, a similar thing happened to canned beer. The size of the cans was reduced by a few centilitres. I usually buy bottles, so I am not 100% sure.

Is this part of a government campaign  to get us to drink less.

It is more likely a government campaign to procure more tax on alcohol sales.

Ah glad I'm relocating back to civilisation in a few weeks

Already ordered plenty of bottles of sauvignon blanc and pinot noir to wet the whistle

It is more likely to be that they have simply run out of stock.

COVID-19 has put the brakes on all imported products.

Don't think so...there haven't been any decent boxed wines available for years...I don't count that fruit juice stuff.

Since they have raised the price so high on wine I think people quit buying the expensive big boxes so no need to carry them any more........

I dont think Thais drink wine much....And farangs numbers in Thailand get less and less.....So thats another reason big boxes are not needed......

Wine just does not sell now like it use to a few years ago....

They fiddle with the size to let the price look unchanged.

A common marketing trick not only in Thailand.

Big beer bottles: don't rejoice too soon.

They look unchanged but also over the years amount has been reduced.

(680->630 or so)

Different brands can have slightly different amount.

About the 5 liter boxes: I could bet they vanished long ago and it was a topic here.

See some from 2018.

I think he may have been referring to the quality of the packaging material containing the liquid contents, sometimes referred to as wine.

But surely that would be "wine in a decent box", no?

I know, don't call me Shirley...

Pomposity noted, Shirley. I used the word decent as a comparison to other boxed wines; not the boxes and not yer actual proper plonk in a bottle, like. Innit?

Boxed wine? Sacre bleu!

Quite right. Awful at the best of times. Terrible if it's corked.

It may be my fault, we're degreasing a tractor at the farm and it's cheaper and more effective than solvent.

So he doesn't guzzle anymore then?

I thought that's why you used the past tense.

I'm sorry you lost you dad.
