Chalong circle police checkpoints

Featured Replies

-Anyone else notice Chalong police seem to be setting up more patrols on the roundabout.....on all exits.... much more frequently in the last month since lockdown ended (Or has it always been like this?)

-They seem to mainly targeting foreigners and will pull you over....... even if you are wearing a helmet (To check your license)

(I lost my wallet with my UK driving license .....during lockdown)

1. Checks there are nothing new, seems the same as always.

2. They target all without helmet and occasionally tourists for dl check.

3. You should have gotten a new dl by now. I presume you reported to police and have a copy on your phone?

It does seem more prevalent and only to be expected. The police are also suffring big time as a result of the lack of tourists and need to supplement their income in whatever way possible.

A couple friends of mine pass through there quite regularly and have reported back that police are checking every single detail in the hopes they can find something to warrant a fine.   However they also report that foreigners are targeted a lot more than locals.

The police did have a few months of lost income opportunities, so they are trying to recoup their investment on getting transferred to the trough island.

I go through 2 or 3 times daily, its definitely been ramped up more than usual over the last 2 or so months.
