When are we gonna apologise to Anutin?

Featured Replies

The guy was spot on about face masks.

Rightfully blamed Westerners for refusing them. Let's face it.... we are just dirty.

Just look at Europe and USA in what a mess they are because of non complicit society.

At the end of the widely distributed article from February, this gem can be found

"Despite the health minister’s insistence on wearing face masks, the World Health Organization suggested that it is not required for individuals without respiratory symptoms since “it may cost unnecessary cost and false sense of security.”

Embarassing.

When are we gonna apologise to Anutin?   Shortly after he prostrates himself in front of us and apologizes for the racist bile he spewed out.I don't care if the use of masks was right or not

When hell freezes over. That racist xenophobe has absolutely no place in a position of power or influence. His outbursts influence many Thai people who then continue with the diatribe.

  • Ooops... thread not going as expected ????

What's being dirty got to do with wearing a face mask...?

Shortly after he prostrates himself in front of us and apologizes for the racist bile he spewed out.I don't care if the use of masks was right or not. There was no justification for a senior member of Government to get pissy when his photo  promotion thing went wrong. He refused to apologize for his disgraceful outburst so he is unlikely to find farang queuing up to say sorry to him.

Pravda, You might be dirty but don't dare label me that.

Hmmmm! Never sounds about right. The man is an idiot and a racist idiot to boot. Changed his tune more often than the direction of the wind, but stuck with the racist comments throughout.

you been talking to my missis??

Not dirty enough yet, but I will be sure to tell you when it´s time. Just be on the look out for a message for the next century.

A post of a racist nature has been reported and removed.

Please stick to the topic and avoid bringing other nationalities into it.

Well, this thread was never going to get very far, a pointless exercise criticising the clowns in charge.

How will we ever be rid of them?

  • Popular Post

Not sure what the point of this thread or if it meant to be funny or light hearted, I just find the suggestion of apologizing to Anutin after what he said and did quite provocative.

  • Popular Post

Pravda you sober when you posted that?

You surely are not serious, apologise to Anutin the racist.

Not only that, but a month later he insulted his own health care workers. He's a disgrace.

No one cares about masks anymore...away from the places where they're still being required (some public transport and certain businesses) people are taking them off. So to the OP, you sound to me like a "pro-masker" but whatever arguments were being made at the beginning of the crisis about westerners not wearing masks (throughout Asia actually), is no longer particularly relevant.

Nowadays in Laos and Cambodia hardly anyone is wearing them anymore, except in the few places where they're required (some hotels and airports). Even in these two countries locals were complaining about westerners not wearing them back in late March/April, but not anymore since less than 10% of locals are still wearing them. In Thailand, it appears to be less than 50% in many places, probably a lot lower in the villages. Obviously on the BTS it's close to 100% but merely because it's still being enforced, not for any other reason.

And I also have something to say about the assumption that "westerners" are not wearing masks in Europe/USA. This couldn't be further from the truth:

Many European countries made them mandatory, early on in the crisis:

Czech Republic on Mar 16 (slightly loosened the requirement to wear them outdoors starting May 25)

Austria (public transport and shops)

Slovakia (similar to Czech Republic)

Romania (when out in public, slightly loosened recently)

Poland - strictly enforced everywhere until a vaccine is available (yes, that's what they're saying!) although in my opinion in a few months they'll probably loosen the requirements anyway as there is no guarantee a vaccine will even happen

France (public transport, since June 10)

Spain (most public spaces where social distancing is not possible)
Italy (ditto)

UK (public transport and shops) - reportedly not very strictly enforced though

Russia (public transport and shops in Moscow and possibly other cities too)

North America:

USA - many states and increasing numbers of them. Also, many stores such as Costco (even in states where they're not required otherwise) and all domestic airline flights.

Canada - new requirements to enter into force in at least one province on July 7 and to remain in place until September 30.

Only a few major western countries have NEVER recommended them and few people are wearing them: Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Finland.

Therefore, there is every indication that the USA and Canada (among others) could be still wearing masks when Asians no longer are. Already in China, some places have removed mask mandates (according to a local friend). In Vietnam, they're still in force, but no longer seem to be strictly enforced except maybe on board flights, some urban public transport and public buildings, but not when walking out on the street...a big contrast to April.

Myanmar - mask mandates came into force quite late (May 13) and are being strictly enforced, probably until the end of the month.

In western countries you have a very polarized public perception now - some very fearful pro-maskers and then the pro-freedom "anti-maskers". The latter is receiving a lot of news coverage by the biased mainstream media, hence the perception many Asians and westerners who see no issue with governments taking a heavy handed approach to this crisis that westerners don't like wearing them because "freedom" but in reality, this is far from the truth. It's not that black and white.

A friend in Florida (he used to live in Thailand) says that around him 99% of people are wearing masks. Well, around me in Thailand, fewer than 50% are and that has been the case for several weeks now. So who's actually more fearful?

UK test per million - 142,000 - total tests over 10,000,000 - about 14% of the population

Thailand test per million - 8,000 - total tests 600,000 - about 0.8% of the population

UK testing all deaths , covid deaths reported even if squished by a bus, knifed, car crash, or even slipped on a banana skin.

Thailand is simply not testing enough, and is definitely not testing everyone who dies.

It's easy to criticise countries being more honest than others.

So patting a xenophile on the back whilst not testing his population is way below the intelligence of most of the TV readers I would think.

Anutin the Great, The Gatekeeper of all things Secret at MoPH. As far as I am concerned he can .. you'll guess the rest.

I see a pattern there .. low population density except in big cities. Sweden of course screwed it up by not doing social distancing, which is the part that really matters.

"we are just dirty."

You talking about you and your significant other?  Or, are you referring to your dirty mind...and you think everyone is like you?

One of the most outstanding ‘Thai Apologist’ posts I have ever read on ThaiVisa.com.

Anutin has made some incredibly xenophobic comments and potentially instilled a ‘wave’ of anti-foreign sentiment within Thai society.

’Some’ foreigners refused to wear face-masks, in Thailand and outside of Thailand: that was clearly wrong. Most were happy to oblige.

Moreso, if you think Thailands low numbers is solely down to ‘more Thai’s wearing face-mask’ you are with good company in supporting Anutin in taking an overly simplistic and dumbed down view at things.

You mention, no complicity society with an implication that Thailand avoided major Covid-19 numbers as Thai Society is complicit - not really so though. Just look at the general flagrant disregard for the law in Thailand and you will see a society which is wholly non-complicit.

Embarrassing indeed that you could be so far from the mark.

Final point: Everyone I know is happy to wear facemarks, both in Thailand and in the UK. Generalising a whole ‘race’ (dirty Farangs) because a minority were stupid and stubborn is stupid.

"Rightfully blamed Westerners for refusing them. Let's face it.... we are just dirty."

What, the fact that some foreigners don't wear face masks means that we don't shower and have bad habits?

""Despite the health minister’s insistence on wearing face masks, the World Health Organization suggested that it is not required for individuals without respiratory symptoms since “it may cost unnecessary cost and false sense of security.”

As you say it was the advice of the WHO.

Having said that, I think that although he's a little turnip, he was possibly correct on face masks. After wearing one for a while, especially riding my bicycle, I find myself very short of breath, which means that the mask's restricting my air intake. I figure that the less air that gets through the material, the less risk of inhaling the virus. I could be wrong.
