i got a 300 baht package a week ago and couldnt for the life of me recall anything

i have ordered somewhat recently, i also wasnt at home so i told the delivery guy to

speak with her to get paid.

it turns out the package came from chiang mai and contained some sort of

machine intended for woman to clean their face.

maid tried to sort it out but it was a 300 baht loss, or 289 baht iirc

Could have said no.

said no to what ?

i wasnt at home and wasnt entirely sure it wasnt intended for me since

i have had orders that never came, tho that is years ago.

when i opened the package i knew that not in my most hilarious delusional state

i would not ever order that, but it was my name and address,

they would not correct their mistake cause it wasnt a mistake, twas a scam,

someone in chiang mai has found a way to get name and address from strangers

yes, that is the point of this post and me joining the forum in the first place:

if you cant recall you ordered anything, dont accept it,

and check sender if its even plausible

my wife has told me people have said this happens
i doubt it would be a large scale scam they are trying though
but more just incompetence
somehow sending to wrong name and address

it is usually pretty straight forward for most
to know what has been ordered and when it is due to arrive
by simply looking at the app used to place orders

how many other sites that you use offer COD here
apart from lazada and shopee ?

being there would have not made any difference really
as you are not allowed to open a cod parcel before paying for it

was the parcel from a lazada or shopee seller ?
as the seller will be stated on the shipping label usually

good thing is it was only 300 baht
and you now got a stocking filler ready for crimbo

isnt that just logical. I mean those who need to be reminded to something like that obviously don't have all their marbles.

Just about every store and food seller in the country?

And yes there is a scam that most Thai are aware of.  If not sure make delivery at a time when you or person named will be home.  If real they will do that.  We have had to do that when family members have failed to inform and can not get them on phone to verify.

even though not at home and you know you didn't order anything for 300 baht recently would be suffice to reject the delivery and send him on his way.  imo

Sorry Steven, dont agree with you.

Three times in the past 2 months i have had Kerry/ Thailand post at the gate with cods.

Stuff ordered by my wife, but she never bothered to tell me.

So OP not at home, cannot expect other people to know what if anything he had ordered.

I was expecting it to be about the local chippy trying sell some overpriced battered dory.

The Wolffish Siamburi's sell is half decent.

OP said he spoke to the delivery guy and said to get "her"?  to pay for it.

So the delivery guy spoke good English? Dont think so.

That would be a question for the OP who said he spoke to the delivery driver, possibly the OP can speak Thai perhaps.

Is it a scam if you receive something approximating what you paid though; whether you ordered it or not?

Scams usually involve taking, not reciprocation.

Definition of reciprocation. 1a : a mutual exchange. b : a return in kind or of like value.value.

You'll fit right in here....moaning about losing 300 baht after nineteen posts.

Assuming you are a guy, did you give it to the maid?
Maybe it wasn't Chiangmai that scammed you.

yes, i gave it to the maid, no, she was not involved in the scam

you do know you and your wife can use the same lazada/shopee accounts on both your phones????‍♂️
so it is possible for you to see if your wife has ordered anything
if you use different accounts then the name on the parcel would explain who done the ordering????

O.K. you look like a gambler ….. could be fine  ….

But ...what if all you hope or expect  is not so ?…. do you have plan B or even C  ready or planned  ??

you should have just rejected it then, if you knew you did not order from either of those.
The parcel would not have been returned to sender immediately
if just would have sat in depo for a few days, or at least until you could check what it was

for a scam it just doesn't make sense unless they are getting the goods for free
the cost to attempt the scam outweigh the possible reward

it might be a good idea to post a photo of the delivery label so others can see

My line came in a different not related topic by your quoting in  #26…… I suggest clear your quote or copy board ????
