Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't the UN state that refugees should seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in?

Seems a stretch to say they trek across Europe to find the country they 'want' to be in, and thats not a problem.

But I'm an American we have out own immigration problems, but seems to me, if illegal immigrants or refugees land on EU territory it's for EU countries to sort out, not the UK

Most of the EU is in the Schengen Area (zone), the UK & Ireland are not. A Schengen visa gains access to that zone, but not to the UK & Ireland (for example).

There are very many Somali people in the UK....on Dutch passports.

Once Frau Merkel gives the millions that she invited to Germany German/EU passports, they can do the same.

They're crossing a frontier when leaving France illegally and they're all going to be sent back and it's going to start happening pretty soon.

I also read somewhere that there's a very good chance this can be back dated to the date the UK left the EU, think about that.

The French have been sending as many as they can over to the UK and we're about to send the lot of them back....to France.

Wishful thinking but it will never happen. Unfortunately.

Yes, his wife is German.

Hong Kong & Chinese people tend to like Canada as a destination, Australia too, Britain won't get that many of the "3 million", I predict. (Canada has birthright citizenship, like the US, for one thing, Britain doesn't).

The population of Africa is predicted by the UN to triple by 2050, from 800 million now, to 2.4 billion. I don't think economic growth will come even close to compensating. The Med is gonna continue to be very busy with small boats.

I'm afraid the current population of Africa is 1.26 billion, not 800m. Accurate figures are so much better to reinforce prejudices.

Eastern European counties have been building walls & fences (1200 km) for exactly the same reason that Trump does, no one mentions that though.

Fences, no wall's (DDR stone wall is no more )….. and …. it is not stopping them ….. so Brexit country i wish you luck start building them or put mine fields around your big waters as they shall come from all sides in future ….

"Accurate figures are so much better to reinforce prejudices".

Or less so? You're contradicting yourself?

UK is hamstrung by what is called the 2nd Dublin agreement. I'm not familiar with details but it seems to be a catch 22 preventing UK backloading uninvited guests to their last safe haven which for 99% is FRANCE.

Another “untapped market” for Brexiteers to make trade deals with after China, EU, and US have failed.

The EU has been in discussions with the African Union in recent times, I suspect they were discussing how many people they're going to let in, I'm not sure how the Italian people feel about this.

"The African Union and European Union promote a constructive and multidimensional approach to migration that complements existing dialogues and frameworks."

Excellent news, a clean Brexit :clap2:.

We can sort out a trade deal later when the EU bureaucrats have stop sulking about Britain rejecting their doomed, federalist project.

Fortunately we just dodged a bullet of 100 Billion Euros to bail out the pauper countries from C19. We got out just in time. Thank god Corbyn was dumb enough to agree to a General Election ????.  Thanks Jezza.

I think you have already enough on U.K. hands with your own C19 " moneytree spending out"  to fill up the treasure crate ….!????

Yeah. When you already have trade deals with dozens of markets, including your own huge single market, you can move on to next. Let’s see what the UK comes up with once it doesn’t have access to all those trade deals anymore. ????

Further to what I said, the biggest single issue re Brexit was immigration. Much of our industry has long since disappeared anyway.

Yeah, sure, now blame it on Labour.

And of course blame the EU.

Boris and his team are perfect, what a joke.

Lets blame it on the Russians as it seems to be the rhetoric now from remainers/anti democratics.

What is farcical and idiotic is that on one hand the Russians prevented Scottish independence and then they stopped helped the UK to be independent from the EU. :cheesy:

The daftest thing is that some people actually feel it is justified as a reason people had had enough for the corrupt, controlling EU and feel much better if they can blame someone like the Russians.

It was the Russians for Trump blah blah. Those who are even entertaining this crazy theory must be doing it to help there damaged ego. I suggest you stop it as people who are clinging onto this like Dominic Greive and the like are embarrassing themselves.

Get over it and move on. I suppose it was the Russians that caused the Conservative GE election victory over the commie, socialist Jeremy Corbyn? You see how daft it is!
