A part Labrador, part Thai Bangkaew dog called Lamphu may just help police track down a drug-trafficking gang in Udon Thani after it brought home a plastic bag full of drugs.

Maneewan Kongpreecharat, 57, called the police when she came home to find her dog had brought home and ripped open a bag carrying more than 10,000 pills.

She said on Thursday (July 23) she had taken her husband to hospital at 9am and returned at 11am to find the bag with the pills already in the house. She said she had no idea where Lamphu found the cache.

Police believe it belongs to a drug cartel, which may have dropped the bag off for a client to pick up, but the dog got to it first. Officers said fingerprints have been found on the bag and they will check surveillance camera footage to kick off an investigation.

Six-year-old Lamphu is mostly black with a few white stripes.

Lamphu is not going to see seven. ????

And, its owner mightn't see next week!

Wish my dog would bring home things of value.  He barely gets off the couch these days.

Wonder if this entrepreneurial dog needs a home.

But surely she is not to blame for having a curious, nosey parker, inquisitive, can't keep his nose out of other people's business dog.

She is, when she gives her name to the police. ????
