Got to thinking today, are we thankful enough? What are you thankful for?

Thankful to have eaten today (some people haven't),

Thankful to have a loving family? (some people have no-one)

Thankful to have a wallow in a deep comfortable bath or shower? (some people don't have running water).

What are YOU thankful for?

Madre, amigo, hermano y luz alumbrando,

Graba noche y día grillos y canarios,

Martillos, turbinas, ladridos, chubascos,

(Violeta Parra)

My family

My health

The great start to life I was given

The subsequent opportunities and chances I have been given throughout my life

The great good fortune I have right now

The long term security I have if I ever need it from Great Britain (welfare/pension/healthcare)

The freedom and opportunities all the above give me and my family, now and for the future

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens

Brown paper packages tied up with strings

These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles

Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings

These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes

Silver white winters that melt into springs

These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites

When the bee stings

When I'm feeling sad

I simply remember my favorite things

And then I don't feel so bad

Thanks torito, my Spanish after 15 years is very rusty.

I'm thankful I was born in the west with the freedom to do as I choose with my life.

Many people have no idea about how much truth is in what you just said Phil..bien dicho!

why not simply say Julie Andrews ?

I am eternally thankful that I rarely meet in real life people as hopelessly negative about life in Thailand as one meets daily on TV. This thread is a wonderful exception. Good work!

Because I didn't particularly like her in "Mary Poppins". :o

My little boy, my fantastic Mum, the love of 140 (give or take) dogs & a very long cool shower when I've finished in the center. Oh and good red wine, when I can afford a couple of glasses. :o And my bed!

i'm thankful that English is the only language used in General Topics.

Yo tambien hombre!

I'm thankful for every day that I wake up and still have some living to do.

It's the time lag. I'm 6 hours behind here. I better not reply in Spanish after recently telling a Dane to open a Danish thread and stop whinging about English. But every day is a gift IMO, even if it's a sh!tty one it's better than not having one; I know a lot of people who are not thankful just for that.

P.S. That's not all I'm thankful for, it's just the essential basis of being privileged to be alive.
