Video: A brush with death in Phayao but laughs all round!

A video from Phayao province in the north of Thailand showed the moments a bamboo thicket was approaching a bridge where Chiang Kham officials were on flood duties.

It was accompanied by a running commentary in northern Thai dialect along the lines of: "Here she comes, here she comes!"

One official just managed to get out of the way in time as the bamboo collided with the bridge and pierced a pick-up.

The commentator then said: "That's done it!"

There were laughs all round as no one was injured.

Daily News said: "That'll teach 'em".

Translations from the Thai into English are approximations.
