Crocodile farms in Nong Khai province have been warned to take steps to stop the reptiles from escaping now that the level of Mekong River has risen above seven metres, its highest this year.

The river has been filled by rundowns from the North and neighbouring countries, with the provincial meteorological department reporting that the water level on Thursday (August 20) stood at 7.27 metres, 41 centimetres higher than yesterday.

Suriya Jongyotha, provincial officer of the Department of Fisheries, visited three crocodile farms in Nong Khai, which have some 170 crocodiles on Thursday.

Though the cages at the farms were found to be strong enough, the operators have been advised to follow meteorological reports so they can be prepared to prevent any crises.

Its just covering their ass happens all in the world.

Now they can say we told them so if something happens as opposed to we thought it normal that they keep the crocks in so did not tell (and look bad if they lose one)

I suggest the crocodiles remain within the safety of their enclosures.

If the locals round here ever got their hands on them it would not end well for the crocs.

And make it "snappy"  best I can do.

The good news here is that the Mekong is rising. Perhaps a Chinese dam has collapsed. Let the crocs escape, they will starve to death due to lack of food in the river and avoid becoming handbags for the rich and famous.

In other news, a woman in Australia crossed a budgerigar with a crocodile. One day it bit her arm off and said "Who's  a naughty boy then?"

There used to be crocodile farms in Bangkok that had the same problem.
