We have a well with very clear water in it and we use that water in our small cool off pool.

The cows used to drink the water and i always drink it myself when outside.

I would like to make a filter so we can stop buying water and drink water from the well.

I have seen many different types on youtube but still not 100% sure what type to build.

Has any one built one?

Probably will be a 4 stage filter because the water is already clear and absolutely no debris in it.

So it will be fine sand, coarse sand and small gravel and lastly activated charcoal.

Trouble is that the water can look great and clear, but may not be.

Our bore water looked the same but when it came in contact with the air, over time, it left a rust mark as the iron precipitated out. We first noticed it in the showers as a light red stain.

So from my experience, the trick is to get your water tested and then use a filter system depending on the results of the test.

I ended up with a 3000L tank from the bore water pump, 2 x 59" fiberglass filter tanks, one filled with 38 L of active carbon and the other with 38 L zircon. Then into a 5 stage RO unit for drinking water. (May be wrong with some of the measurments).
