Recommendations for a 2/3 night break

Featured Replies

Is there anywhere nice in Isaan to stay for a few nights? looking to get away with the wife next weekend for the songkran break..

Previously visited Chiang Khan and Khao Kho which were both nice but looking for some new

Nakhon Phanom or Beung Kan. Lovely mountain views across the Mekong in Laos. The latter is very quiet usually. No idea about during the songkran break. The Thais do love to set up speakers and make a lot of noise wherever the festival!

I might be wrong, but I doubt that there will be any Songkran like activities.

Just more traffic for home visits, more crowds in parks, shopping centers etc.

Would you celebrate Christmas in May?

MUKDAHAN always good. Riverfront Hotel in the market area or La Gadda is superb

Just be fully aware of what's on offer. More domestic tourism than you have ever seen.

Whoops!!! Don’t know where I got La Gadda from ...... probably the bottom of a Leo bottle.
thanks malathion !

Stay off the roads, avoid the mayhem. Wait a week and go further north to Chiang Rai for 3 nights.

Grin! Either way, meaningless name, I guess!

I’m a big Nakhon Phanom fan.

Love the vibe, enough going on in the evening to keep you entertained. So entice bars and restaurants along the river front. Walking street market friends/sat/sun brings plenty of plenty of people out.

Personally I love just walking along the river. There is a boat leaves 5pm every evening that you can sit down for a mean and it cruises down the Mekong for a couple of hours. Food was good and not a rip off. Enjoyable evening.
