Coaches are Back I see

Featured Replies

A noticeable increase in the number of coaches around the place, especially around Silver Lake, internal tourism I guess, but they are back to their old tricks, poor driving, blocking roads and no consideration  of other road users.  Its depressing. No doubt they will soon be bringing Pattaya to a halt.  Anyone have a report on what it is like at a weekend with regard to coaches?  I normally avoid weekends in the City even now.

Took the motorcycle into Pattaya today, not a bus in sight. Had a beer on 2nd Rd and Beach road, deadly quiet around noon time.

Yes, some coaches are back.  Just drove down the north part of Beach Road and there were some parked by A-01 Hotel.  Lots of people on the beach, as well.

Yes, it must be very sad to see some things go back to normal. In all other cases you can always complain that everything has changed.

I went down to Jomtien Beach for an hour on Saturday afternoon and you'd never know there was a tourist crisis. Loads of traffic, including coaches. The deck chair vendors were doing a roaring trade (there seem to be more umbrellas around on the beach now than there were back at the start of the year), it was hard to find anywhere to park, and the beach and sea were full of people. I was in the area between Wat Bun and Chaiyapruek and saw all of three other farangs down there. I'm beginning to feel like a novelty, Thai parents will be pointing at me and telling their kids, "Look, Lek, it's a farang! Once there were many of them here in Pattaya, but they all died of the virus." I don't know what Pattaya Beach was like, but Jomtien Beach was just about normal in terms of numbers of people.

Yesterday I was sitting in the bar corner of soi 7 and beach rd around noon time.  3 customers in the open bar and across street could see the beach chairs with maybe a few chairs taken. Mighty quiet where I was.

Have seen a few bus convoys going down beach road Jomtien. Usually have motorcycle escorts, so perhaps some government types (won't say 'workers') on a "fact finding" junket off to a resort for a few days.

I could be wrong

Just over an hour ago was on the road that runs from the top of 3rd (where it joins Nua) to Soi Potishan. On the right going towards Naklua there is a very large building set back a long way off the road, all white, and there was an empty plain white big coach coming out and then a couple of minutes later 2 more turning in with people on board.

Massage or some sort of hotel anybody know?

The bus passengers have just arrived in Thailand and are being escorted to their hotel for a 14-day quarantine.

I saw 4 coaches driving north on Jomtien Beach Rd 2 days ago, and they were empty.

Same same... no coaches. Next weekend might be different with the holidays.
