CHANTHABURI (NNT) - Tourism and related businesses in Chanthaburi have responded positively to the extension of the government’s Travel Together tourism subsidy campaign, as domestic travellers have regained their confidence to travel. They have however asked the government to streamline the signing up process for businesses, making it easier for them to join.

Chanthaburi Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Chaipong Niyomkit has revealed that the number of businesses in Chanthaburi participating in the government’s Travel Together tourism subsidy campaign remains low due to the complicated sign up process, asking the government to streamline the process to encourage more businesses to join.

He said however that the province is not severely affected by the situation, as accommodation and food prices are generally low, while the province’s close proximity to Bangkok makes it one of the most popular destinations for holidaymakers traveling from the capital.

Local government agencies and companies have joined forces to create safety and hygiene standards for tourism attractions and restaurants, to support the confidence of visitors. Certified venues will receive a sign with a certification logo to be put on display.

Chanthaburi has become one of the top five provinces with the highest number of tourists, since the COVID-19 crisis started to deescalate.
