Greetings everyone

I am looking for some informations regarding the following matter. If one happens to know a better forum for this topic, kindly let me know.

One of my friends is currently authorised to go (back) to work in China on a business visa ( I guess). He will be traveling there this month to take his position. His son is doing his last year at an International school in Bangkok and plans to go to study in the Shanghai International School where he used to study before moving to Thailand.

Slight problem as the Chinese authorities are telling the father that he must have resided 3 months working in China before he can reunite with family members.

I am not an expert obviously and wonder if it would not be easier for the kid to apply for a student visa.

Any advice, sound insight, is welcome

Have a great day

Not enough details here.

China has not allowed the re-entry of foreigners - even those with residence permits

and almost all category of visas - business visa, family reunion visa etc.

Some EU nationals are now being allowed re-entry for business, trade and humanitarian activities.

Better for the kid to wait it out until all restrictions are lifted.
