Where have you been?  The Atlantic has been around since before the Civil War.

In rural Nakohn Si Thammarat, feels like it's been since 1846.

I don’t think any rational person believes he said any of that, and people who were there with trump have all denied he said it.    There’s something to be said about “the Atlantic” being the o

Interesting timing.  Election in a matter of weeks.  ????

Its politics. I am sure there will be more "interesting timing" from both sides as the date gets closer.

Pleased to read you are enjoying The Atlantic, it has an excellent reputation as does the "The Diplomat", there are others.

yes, I signed up, y/day. Also Axios, after that interview with POTUS. Also on my list are Economist, several Asian, Far East Review and a few other sources. Always good to find something balanced from US.

Really isn't a question of whose honesty between them I trust more.  The question is - who are the sources and what is their motive for this article 2 years after the fact in an election year?  There are publicly announced denials from others that were around at that time including from some who are to exactly in the Trump inner circle any longer.  Based on that I have legitimate reason to suspect the validity of the smear.

If you aren't even a bit suspicious it just indicates you WANT to believe it.  I don't buy into smears from either side without hard evidence.

What specific denials are you referring to?

What I'm hearing mostly is DEFLECTION.

Talking about all he has done for the military but not really saying that he doesn't say things like that, because we freaking KNOW he says things like that already.

I agree the sources should come forward.

Stay tuned. I bet you some will.

It's not a matter of wanting to believe it. I totally DO believe it. Why? Because I've heard 45 openly say similar things on video numerous times! That's his character. His character might be OK for a real estate shyster but it is certainly NOT OK for any president.

BTW did you see his recent off the rails attack on Kelly who we don't know if he's one of the accusers or not?

Watch that carefully. That is guilty man talking. He knows full well he's said such things and he knows full well Kelly knows that too.

So it's a preliminary defense if Kelly goes public. Attack Kelly. Innocent people do not behave that way.

As far as his wife's statement, sorry she has no credibility because she is his wife.

Even John Bolton isn't going along with this hilarious scam:

"He [Trump] got support from an unlikely source on Friday when John R. Bolton, his former national security adviser who has broken with him and called him unfit for office, said he was on the trip in question and never heard Mr. Trump make those remarks. “I didn’t hear that,” Mr. Bolton said in an interview. “I’m not saying he didn’t say them later in the day or another time but I was there for that discussion.”

You must be joking? You quote someone, who, in your own words said ' he, Trump, is unfit for office' of President. Talk of sticking ones head in the sand. 555

There used to be a time in the not too distant past when journalistic ethics would require evidence/proof/substantiation for such claims and/or the people to go on record as making such claims.

I see that’s gone out the window now.

4 people can get together and claim someone said something without providing a shred of evidence, a speck of substantiation, and do it anonymously... that’s not journalism - that’s gossip.

Obvious this was a coordinated hit piece.

sorry to hear about your eyesight and hearing disabilities (also, possibly early signs of senility).

hadn't really heard of this mag. before.

Has some interesting reads.

Another one is <https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/08/how-biden-loses/615835/> .

Biden better start losing his temper more often. American don't like 'nice' any more - POTOS has make it unfashionable.

Biden is doing just fine with his measured temper while showing empathy against Trump’s unhinged and lack of empathy style. I think his calmed yet firmed demeanor will appeal to the voters rather than the combative uncouth and

fear mongering style of Trump.

As "it" has only one syllable he probably did. He got tongue tied on "cofeve" (more than one syllable).

He did it. Everyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size number know her did it. It's pure trump; crass, classless, mean, ignorant and stupid.

He probably did. And what's more, I doubt you actually care. First it's denial, then casting doubt, next comes bashing sources, followed by what-he-really-meant, morphing into but-what-about, and moving on to only-trolling, only-joking, has-right-to-opinion, ending with so-what, nothing-burger, maga, Biden-is-this-or-that.

Sure bro, sure.

question: can you explain why you continue to support as your President a foul mouthed**, lying, cheating, con man, bankrupted 7 times (one of which was a casino - HOW can you go bangkrupt running a casino?), who threw away the US pandemic defence package and terminated the US pandemic world coordination team, because (quote) ' i hate paying people who are not working for me' ?

** from the horse's mouth:

Trump: "I moved on her actually. You know she was down on Palm Beach. I moved on her, and I failed. I'll admit it. I did try and <deleted> her, she was married."

Unknown: "That's huge news there."

Trump: "No, no, Nancy. No this was [inaudible] and I moved on her very heavily in fact I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said I'll show you where they have some nice furniture. I moved on her like a bitch. I couldn't get there and she was married. Then all-of-a-sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony tits and everything. She's totally changed her look."

A Trump supporter sets the acceptable bar for Presidential conduct.

Personally I don't think that America should have gone to war in Vietnam. I understand those who stood up and refused the draft for reasons of conviction, although I do not agree with them.

Those who used money, influence and medical fraud to dodge the draft yet were prepared to let others, less favoured, fortunate or wealthy to go, fight and die are the lowest of the low.

John Fogerty got it right: ''I aint no senators son''.

The point made was to show Trump's style, the way he relates to people and such. Go ahead and pretend not to have understood that. It doesn't really matter, though. You'd defend his words regardless.
