Smartphone icon on PC ? How

Featured Replies

I am a bit lost, and need some help.....  appears all the shops I have asked in say "no cannot" but think they have no idea what I am on about.. all want to sell me a USB cable

Had many phones, plug them in via USB and a Icon appear on Desktop = you see the phone can add music to phone from PC, take off Pictures etc

My newest phone is a Vivo Y 11, [Love it] when I plug into desktop makes the noise ding dong  and battery starts charging,  No Icon anywhere, cannot appear to add it just says 'Unknown USB Device'   ??

Any help please.

You have to change mode from charge to file transfer.  Believe it is in the settings but do not have 'smart' phone anymore as my fingers just don't seem to be conductive enough to answer calls (which is all I used it for).

What Lopburi3 is talking about is the setting the 'native' mode the phone's OS puts its USB port into.

Modes:

  • Charging Only
  • Phone appears as Memory Stick to access Photos/Files

This VIVO support page 'may' help (dependent on the phone model, OS version, etc, etc)

USB connectivity  (scroll down page to find)
Why can I not connect my phone to PC?

Just to add to the points already made, even if set the default to USB file transfer, you will usually have to "unlock" the phone's lock screen before it will show up.

Do you use a USB charging cable only or one that allows data transfer too?
