There is but it is included in the ticket price.

Oh, thank you. Thank you very much.

When I bought the ticket the agent said, "all included", but I don't

remember he said anything about airport tax. So I was worried because

I got limited amount of money with me.

Don, very kind of you to give me a quick reply.

Used to be 500 baht... which many tourists didn't keep and it was always drama at checkin counters. Then they raised to 700 baht and included it in ticket price. Now I don't know how high it's got, but it will be covered by your ticket under Taxes and surcharges.

Have a safe and pleasant flight!

Thank you tomazbodner, you got all the details . It's good they included in the ticket otherwise people always forget and when they don't have enough money to pay the airport tax all  hell broke loose right?

I'd say it was embarrassing seeing tourists begging for money from fellow passengers... That was a long time ago. If I remember correctly, tax was increased from 500 to 700 baht in 2006 and included in ticket from early 2007.

Once upon a time there was no departure tax if leaving the country. Then a 'departure tax' (I recall it was called something else then) was introduced at ฿250/international departures. That was soon increased to ฿500, then ฿1,000. I don't remember the ฿7OO/750 (obviously didn't leave the country for a while) but back then there were booths in Don Muang (not Suvarnabhumi as it had not been built by then) that you had to pay to before you were given your boarding pass/es. Times soon changed and now, I think the ฿1,000 charge is added as a departure tax and is included in your ticket price. By the way, the ฿250 charge was way back then when it was ฿31/32 to a GBP and hovered around the ฿25 to a US$.
