Popular Post webfact Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Video: Want to visit Thailand? Here is how to apply for a Special Tourist Visa video screenshot A video from Thailand's authorities on YouTube explains how foreigners can now visit the kingdom utilizing the recently approved STV or special tourist visa for long stay tourists. The video starts with comments that the Royal Thai Government has been successful in controlling the spread of Covid-19 and now sees the potential for long stay tourism. "Thailand is now ready to welcome visitors back to the country by issuing a special tourist visa or STV for those interested in the Premium Long Stay program", the announcer says. It is noted that "much planning" has gone into this, numbers will be limited and that all those coming must agree to undergo quarantine at an Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) facility in Alternative Local State Quarantine (ALSQ). The process by which the STV can be obtained is then itemised step by step from initial contact with an agent to successful completion of quarantine and subsequent freedom to travel within Thailand. Popular Post 2 is 1 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 LOL few steps! And everything going to be fine! We haddle this quik! 3 1 4
Popular Post Geoffggi Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Sounds easy on the film clip but anyone with a little background knowledge will understand it better and realise what it really entails, even obtaining a flight is going to be problematic unless of course some business person has already designs on chartering flights at an exorbitant price of course. Also I hope the Thai travel company enlighten people as to the expenses they will incur for the isolation, before shopping online .............LOL 11 1
Popular Post aussienam Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 I am sorry, but so much promotion by the TAT and government for the new STV, when it caters for an extremely small percentage of people = 1200 per month. Also, not yet revealed are the costs in the agent booked ASQ facilities? Plus chartered and private plane arrivals. The target market are the very rich it seems. As the vast majority of tourists are working to middle class income earners, this does not seem for them. Forget Thailand for 2020, 2021 and probably 2022. New waves of COVID19 will return, political unrest, and a many months of delays in rollout, price, distribution and administration if a vaccine is given full approval by next year - are inevitable. Think red tape, vaccination certification and immunity delays as well. It's going to much get worse sorry. As time goes on this will snowball. 15 3
Popular Post RotBenz8888 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Better check if your insurance company covers for asymptomatic covid19 hospitalisation.... 6 2 4
Popular Post kotsak Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Last thing I want to do as a tourist is to go through all that crapola. People go on tourism to unwind, not to get into a wind up. 29 4 1
Popular Post zzzzz Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Quote ....As the vast majority of tourists are working to middle class income earners, this does not seem for them. this is NOT for the working middle class. its for the many many (there easily 2,000 that holiday3-4months in Phuket every winter that own condos, villas etc) and those for whatever reason ( those on retirement extensions)that have not been able to get back I bet it will work an i HOPE that after a few months thailand will start to get back to visa exempts an regular tourist visas with ONLY a covid free test. 9 1 3
Popular Post steven100 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 14 DAYS quarantine at Thailands ASQ hotel for ' fun time thailand ' .... lol 8
Popular Post Justgrazing Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 ASQ's , STV's , CEO's should be right up any Acronym enthusiasts street .. Love the bit where if you make it as far as being banged up in yer ASQ for a fortnite you can pass the time shopping online .. 9

Popular Post Shey420 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 This is crazy. If you agree to all the quarantine measures when do you have to be tracked after quarantine. 3
Popular Post JCP108 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 So now one is dealing with embassy staff AND "agents" to apply for and satisfy the visa requirements prior to flying?! Would be interesting to see some of the particulars of working out the agent part. What happened to having to complete a 14-day quarantine in the home country? And, why the stipulation of chartered or private flights? I smell rats. 3 1
Popular Post anchadian Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Even Mickey Mouse who sat beside me whilst watching that video said how confusing the process is. He's now gone for a lie down. 18

Popular Post Shey420 Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Its probably alot of people waiting to take a trip to South East Asia or Thailand but whats going to happen is Thailand will continue to alienate them for the "saviors of the economy" the rich. These people will then take there one vacation they have to Vietnam when they open. Video sounds like the hunger games 2 1
Popular Post ourmanflint Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 So what are we up to now? 28 days quarantine and at least 5 or is it 6 negative covid tests 2 1 1

As far as I know, Thailand Longstay Company is one of the places (if not the only one) to apply; however, there is absolutely no information on their website: http://www.thailongstay.co.th I send them an e-mail yesterday, no reply yet. 3 1 3

Thanks! Yesterday in one of the facebook groups I got recommended the same "Thailand Longstay Company" and someone even emailed them and got a reply and they said they don't know and we have to wait till they get more info ???? 1 3
Popular Post JusticeGB Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 I thought this was a video released by North Korea. It makes visiting Thailand seem like a doddle no mention of the 22 step process or the compulsory US$100k insurance, clearance to fly certificate, pre flight covid19 tests, the fact that you can't smoke, drink alcohol in your room or use the expensive balcony you pay extra for etc. etc. There maybe people who see this video who will think how nice and then get turned off for life from going to Thailand because of the lack of truth in this video. 5 1 1
Popular Post PingRoundTheWorld Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Oh yeah! Months of planning and certifications, followed by a 14-day hotel arrest, pay up the ass for the privilege, and to top it off be monitored your entire stay. Even if I had the time to dedicate to this <deleted> I wouldn't. Time to look for some new destinations, Thailand doesn't want to be one. 3
FarangJon Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Yet another day and one more brainless idea to bring back what they need. 1 1
Popular Post SpanishExpat Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Morons! No one is able or willing to answer questions like: - how much will the charter flights cost? - what if the flight is on a Sunday/Monday? Would be impossible to to get a negative covid test + visit the Thai embassy within 72hrs before the departure in most European countries. - are international covid insurances allowed or just overpriced Thai ones? - how long they will "track" you after the ASQ? (tracking after the ASQ is a big NOGO for me) - what happens in the hospital, if you are positive, but just asymptotic? Are you there forever?? - what are the financial requirements/bank account balance I read in the news? Those are just a few questions that came immediately to my mind. The more complex, the more questions...and that's typical Thailand. They spend money and man-power for a ridiculous plan with ridiculous hurdles. No embassy/ agency will be able to answer me those questions. It will be rather "just apply and see". Honestly, all this BS has just been done to "save their faces". The reality that anyone with close ties to TH knows is, that this process will take MONTHS in the worst case! The video however suggest it's super easy and will be done within 1-2 weeks. 3 1

Perhaps 2 flights a week. 2 2

Popular Post Misterwhisper Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 I just recommended to an acquaintance to obtain a visitor visa to North Korea instead, the application process for which seems much less convoluted than this. The downside in Pyongyang is the complete lack of online shopping opportunities during quarantine, of course. But instead of a tracking app a real-life government-assigned minder will stick to you like cling film, making sure you're safe and sound at all times. And if you ask him nicely, he might even spoon with you at no extra cost. 3 6
Popular Post DjSilver Posted September 22, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 22, 2020 Thai logic is no logic at all. No one will go to Thailand. The Thai government has killed off Thailand 4
