Great advert for Thai tourism ... jump through all those hoops but we don't actually know what they are so you'll have to wait until we decide ... those 150 people will now tell 10 of their friends which becomes 1,500 ... those 1,500 will tell 10 of their friends which will become 15,000 ... those 15,000 will tell 10 of their friends which will become 150,000 ... and so it goes on. Won't be long before all of China knows what a total f'up this STV is. 2

It is also all those tourists that bring the things we miss and patronize into Thailand: an occasional Burger King, Villa Market, english speaking movies, basically everything Thais have absolutely no use for. Eliminate tourism and all things western are eliminated as well. There is simply not enough expat traffic to keep them going. Life will literally be like it was 40 yrs ago. My goodness - I am like a Thai already after very many years here. I never go to Burger King or any other fastfood "restaurant". I also never go to Villa Market. English speaking movies I can find without end on the internet. And yes - I miss the Thailand how it was 40 years ago. This was the Thailand that motivated me to move to it. 1

Surely their original COVID-free health certificates will expire by the time they can actually fly out...

Cake Monster
Another Brain Fart idea that had the full weight of Thai Incompetence thrown behind it. Popular Post KKr
IMHO a disgrace, A huge loss of face for Thailand, Two slaps in the face for the Tourism sector, if powers that be cannot even agree on a simple matter of logistics for allowing 150 ( ONE-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY ) tourists in. ronaldo0
More than likely they never existed like I said before . Was a nonsense story made up to make everyone think the Chinese were going to snap up all the visas available and make others rush to apply hoping to get the last few remaining , when in fact there were loads available as only those desperate to return or money to burn were interested ! Now they have realised maybe they got 1-200 applicants so they have cancelled the plan to save face and now thinking up some new insane idea . lkv
This is very dissappointing. As a tourist, I wanted to come to Thailand badly, get all the insurances, 500K in the bank with detailed transactions over 6 months, covid tests, quarantine, even wristband if needed for the whole duration of my stay of 9 months. My boss is ok with my extended vacation, no work allowed. But now, because of these new developments, I must say I changed my mind. Just kidding ???? And many other places around the globe. Easy for you to say, with your cushy pension, and retirement savings. Not so easy for millions of families dependent on tourism here. I do agree it was unsustainable. But, to go from 38 million a year, to nothing? This hapless administration needs to develop some courage and initiative. They can't hide from the world forever. Extreme timidity from supposedly tough men is an amusing thing to witness. However, the pain they are inflicting on millions is not. All people from all nations should be welcome starting tomorrow. If you are willing to endure quarantine, no restrictions whatsoever. No begging of a consulate for permission to visit. That is nonsensical stupidity. Where is the dignity in that? Some cannot get to a consulate. Many consulates will not even answer their emails, or phone calls. Popular Post spidermike007
I think the title of this article, would be an apt description for the Prayuth administration. The Thai army. Confusion reigns. The Thai army - moving Thailand backwards at a breathtaking pace. The Prayuth administration. The most regressive leadership since Franco, or Mao.

Miss Pickle
Let’s face it it is never going to Happen the rules get changed every day people have to make plans to travel. Thailand would be as well as saying no visitors until there is a vaccine sadly the Tourist buisness will be on it’s knees by then but it is everywhere else in the world anyway. I own a Condo in a thailand and normally spend the Winter in Thailand but I have come to the conclusion it won’t be happening this year as I am from the UK . I said I was hoping the mass tourism was over. Not to go to 0, but to go to something that is sustainable. Only looking at the numbers isn't appropriate. There can be sustainable tourism, which works in the long run. Had Thailand continued the way it was going, there would be no reason to visit the place in 5-10 years as pretty much everything worth seeing would have already been destroyed. Take a look at the photos of tourist spots 20-30 years ago and now. Just that alone should give you something to think about where this was all going. 2
