Before COVID 19 - Tourists who are here for long periods of time - are NOT tourists and need a different visa.

After COVID 19 - Only those are coming for long periods of time ARE tourists and can get a tourist visa.

Well heeled tourists who can afford to come to Thailand for 3 months are not high risk. They are also the people who can afford to stay away from other people, buy good masks etc. The greatest risk or them maybe during the airplane flight over and the numerous tests at medical facilities. The highest risk are the workers coming from overseas and returning home.

 

Any day now the vaccines will come, there maybe a cure, a treatment or prophylactic. Already if you take vit D and wear a N95 mask all the time you will greatly reduce your chances of catching covid.

 

At that time tourism will explode all over the world. People have not forgot Thailand, contrary they are longing to return.

 

Thailand is doing the right thing, protecting their people, keeping their internal economy going. I suspect a lot of people would like to be in Thailand right now and the STV inbox is overflowing.

Do you remember Anoutin saying farangs are dirty because they don't shower and Thais should keep away because farangs bring covid to them. Remember how they tried to make Thais believe that covid was not from China but from farangs, helping Xijinping to push his whitewash narrative?

By the way, why are army Generals in Thailand the richest people? Why is Prayut one of the richest people? What is his salary for the service he is doing to the people of Thailand?

It's very possible China told them that they were not allowed to come.  China is not a democracy and they are fairly adamant that they are not going to have people return spreading the virus around.

Tourism is dead for a decade.  People need to seek other employment.   So sorry. 

Big change with the restaurant industry.  Many people in USA have learned how to cook for the first time in USA and they realize its better and easier than going out  to a restaurant.   If they do eat restaurant food its take out or drive through.   A chik fil let near me has covered, heated,  with fans, double drive through lanes.   With 4-6 employees taking orders. They are so busy maybe they are just keeping stock going of all types of food.   More people walking and biking on my street than ever.

 

All those tattooed ghosts will need to  get real hobs and learn to be told what to  do and work for much less.

Obviously, this is just to save ‘face’ as, it’s probably just a simple case of the people in charge of country thinking that everyone wants to come to Thailand and would do anything to get back over here whilst, in reality, the planeload of chinese they are talking about just doesn’t exist and they have no one to bring over.  The people in charge of Thailand are t going to admit that so just make up some bs story about looking after the interests of the Thai citizens and keeping them safe.

They are GoFundMe operations, asking for short term, 0% interest loans on flights that won't happen anyway. "Would Be Passengers" can choose their imaginary flight and amount of loan/donation to their favourite airline.

Made it up to gauge how many people apart from Chinese want to come and are willing to put up with the expensive quarantine nonsense .

Like all the articles in the press about people panic buying toilet tissues and masks . It made more panic and rush out and buy them . Same spin for all the Chinese coming to Thailand, making others clamour for visas that were in abundance incase the Chinese took them all . Which is never really going to happen !

This is what happens when you put onerous conditions on Tourists arriving,they seem to forget there are other places tourists can go to without having to become a circus performer to get there,and be incarcerated on arrival,i suppose the brains trust may realise this now,as they could'nt even get 150 Chinese to get on a plane to Swampy,noting that they are at the top of the tree when it comes to circus performers!

There are a number of posts I could put this in, but to put things in perspective there were 50k excess deaths in the UK from a particular virulent strain of flu in 2017, more than COVID deaths so far, was there any reaction to that across the world? Also the average age of someone dying in the UK from COVID is 80, the actual average age of death in UK is 81!!

 

I realise it is very lazy to compare COVID to flu, but as in everything in life you have to balance risk against reward/loss and unfortunately this seems to have bypassed the people in charge much to the detriment of their own people.

where are all these tourists going to come from. If your staying on a 90 day holiday its not something you do at the drop of a hat you have to plan ahead and these people at the moment don't even know how to get a visa in fact nobody does not even the government. Just can't see it happening, you plan everything them someone decides to change the goalposts so all your plans have just sailed away and not to Thailand.
