I am of course quite old and smelly, but I can quite clearly remember life in the UK before we joined the 'Common Market". As I recall food prices rose significantly when we joined. Prior to membership we traded widely all around the world, and I really cannot remember anything ( with the possible exception of Kiwifruit) which was not available. Just about everything which we consume, if presently supplied from within the EU, can be sourced from elsewhere. It may take some time to set up the trade, but it can be done. 

 

I also suspect that the European producers, faced with the loss of a lucrative market of 60 million + consumers, will make pretty damn sure that there ability to sell competitively into that market is not hampered by EU imposed restrictions!

 

Of course if "Dimitriv" and his ilk have their way, and the tunnel is bricked up, the ports blockaded and no-one or nothing is allowed in or out then the apocalyptic predictions of empty shelves and supermarket queues may come true - ironically in Ireland, (an EU member) which is particularly dependent on trade with the UK!

Why would you care, if I were you I would be more worried about now having to cough up more money to fill the large UK money shortfall to rebuild broke EU countries.......

Ireland is going to face difficulties because of Brexit. But they will have the support of the rest of the EU to help them.
