Relatives sought: Unconscious motorcyclist had 121 winning lottery tix worth 300K under his seat

Sanook reported that they had been contacted by Phairat, 40, an official of the RuamKatanyu rescue foundation after two motorcycles collided in the early hours of yesterday morning on Ngam Wong Wan road in Nonthaburi, north west of Bangkok.

Two women on a Yamaha were only slightly injured but the rider of a black Honda Phantom (Bangkok plate number 530) was found unconscious and rushed to Phra Nang Klao Hospital.

He is 69 year old Wiporn.

Under his seat foundation workers found 121 winning lottery tickets from the October 16th draw. A total of 38 had the correct last two numbers and the others had the right first three and last three digits.

The winning tickets - worth a total of 300,000 baht - have been deposited with the police for safe keeping.

Phairat requested the media to try and find the relatives of Wiporn who should contact the hospital or the police.

He said he did not know the current condition of the victim or whether his relatives were aware of what had happened to him

It is thought that Wiporn is a "yeepua" - a kind of agent that buys winning tickets for a commission - and was on his way early morning to the lottery office to reclaim winnings.

A reasonable charge  for safe storage and return would  be expected.

Probably paid out 50%, so was out of pocket 150,000 baht and was counting the rest of his windfall before he found himself asleep in the proverbial deep sleep.  Poor man, hope he recovers.  Many of those that sold there tickets to him probably know how to find his family.

If he had that many winning tickets you have to wonder how many he bought in total and just goes to show how chronic Thai people are when it comes to gambling !

As I understand it, as a "yeepua", he buys tickets from people who have already won, for a commission. Why people would sell rather than just not claim themselves is a little puzzling, maybe they're disbarred for some reason; vendors I would imagine, for example, though I'm not up on Thai lottery laws. Quite impressed the tickets just didn't disappear, though I suppose the two female witnesses had something to do with that.

Yes, ok! Naturally, as long as it´s reasonable. ????

One if the buyer is of a low rank.

You would have thought that the article would state where the queue for relatives should start

I'm sure Wiporn will be eternally thankful  for publishing his private windfall for all the world to see.

If he wished to remain as an anonymous winner he may have the right to sue someone?
