Ministries eye easing COVID-19 measures to allow health tourism

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministries of Public Health, Tourism and Sports and Transport have discussed ways to ease some COVID-19 measures, to facilitate health tourism, which will help stimulate the Thai economy and bring revenue into the country.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a health economy driving committee meeting, with Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn acting as vice-chair.

Mr. Anutin said Thailand’s successful COVID-19 control reflects the robust system in place to detect and limit the cases, opening a possibility for certain COVID-19 measures to be eased and allow more foreign visitors to come to the country, generating foreign income for Thailand.

The Ministry of Public Health is now focusing on allowing foreigners seeking medical treatment to visit Thailand, citing the capacity of hospitals registered as quarantine facilities and the economic benefits.

The driving committee has approved a new quarantine program at golf clubs, called Golf Quarantine, targeting 18-20 million prospective visitors, from China, Japan and Korea, this year.

This program allows certified golf clubs, with 8 certified clubs now available, to accommodate foreign visitors. Operators must ensure the safety requirements are met, and strictly comply with the Ministry of Public Health’s operational guidelines and standards.

Outcomes of this meeting still need final approval from a Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) full panel meeting. The Minister of Public Health has reassured the public that easing of measures will not lead to the spread of the virus in the country.

All a bunch of falsehoods and showing what is important to them.  Not true health safety but as it says "Generating foreign income for Thailand".  This is a recurring theme.  Money Money Money, or as someone once said in a football movie starring Tom Cruise "Show me the Money".  Just a bunch of tools.  Reminds me of a Reality TV star in charge somewhere else.  Open mouth and......

I think we need to have some foreign psychiatrists to come in and check these morons out.

We will now spend more of our free time at the golf club and are very lucky it doesn’t have anywhere for overnight stays.....

I am using my phone at the mo but if I had the laptop I would check on who the 8 golf clubs are!  My guess is that they are well connected to the Muppets running the circus.

Those golf clubs wont have enough room to swing a club with 20m in last few months of this year

COVID tourism for the masses.  3 month, extendible terminal visas. 90 day reporting wheelchairs with oxygen. Auto-fines for the comatose.  No cure too expensive.

As for Anutin, covid-19 has been shown to directly infect the brain.

I am very sorry to say this, and normally I do not talk to other people in such a way, but provided the article's description is in accordance with reality, then these so-called politicians are downright idiots, fools, morons. This is so unbelievably stupid, that I absolutely find it fair to say what I just did. Unbe<deleted>inglievable!!

If the health minister is wearing a doctor's shirt, why isn't the tourism minister wearing a Hawaiian shirt, shorts and flip-flops? Or is he wearing a pair of elephant pants below the jacket and yellow tie?

As for the article itself, its up there with the most ridiculous press statements about the recovery of tourism...and that's not easy

I thought their idea of 'Permission for British and Czech sailors to enter the country' was ridiculous, but this one is even stranger.

Eagerly waiting for the next silly idea from them.

They do like tee'ing thereselves for

some ridicule and would have looked a bit stupid calling it Tennis or Squash quarantine so 10/10 for innovation in going for Golf ..

15 to 20 million eh , they are really in the bunker with that one but hey if your gonna go silly then go overclub it big style ..

I reckon they should pitch to hold the Marbles playing World Championship for they have truly lost theirs ..

Almost daily we are reading here on TV reports of statements attributed to government ministers. Most are so ludicrous that they are ridiculed by readers and rightly so. But, can these individuals really be so stupid or is it inaccurate translation to blame? If it can be confirmed from independent sources that the translation is good then Thailand is politically doomed.

So, because it's successful, they are compromising success for cash

Too much whiski in brain. The stupidity themself is more dangerous than covig 19 itself.

Here is what The Caneries offer:

"

In order to boost tourism, the Canary Islands are also offering free medical insurance for tourists, which covers medical expenses, medical repatriation and your stay if you need to quarantine on the islands for 15 days.

The policy is offered to all tourists visiting the Canary Islands who test positive for coronavirus during their stay at “any regulated establishment”, as well as their accompanying relatives, even when the latter have not tested positive for Covid-19."

So which destination do you think tourists will be attracted.

Perhaps you did not know but many golf courses are owned by the military. It goes without saying that the eight courses this article is referring to won’t be private run establishments
