October 29, 20205 yr Last week, coming back from the airport, I got off the ARL at Phetchaburi and boarded a canal boat at the Asoke Pier. Had to change boats, at the transfer pier, then ended up at Democracy Monument at the end of the line. Never was asked for money or tickets, but it did appear a few had some kind of ticket at the transfer pier. Any clues? Farang Appreciation Day? Was a great way to cut through a very congested area.
October 29, 20205 yr there should have been a guy or girl like this collecting fares from passengers. why do you say 'farang appreciation day', were the thai passengers paying, and if so why didnt you pay? the boats operate an 'honesty' policy where passengers are expected to pay if overlooked by the on board ticket seller, which can happen when the boats are busy. you could always offer to pay to staff you find on the piers.
