I'm seeing the funny side of the wailing porn addicts deprived of their staple.

You're in a country where the real thing is freely available, what's your problem?

Why would you think that those protesting the pornhub Ban are expats?  You should really look at the true demographics and, of course where the story came from.  Besides that, it is just another step in totally disenfranchising the Thai people from utilizing their freedoms.  Not sure how Thailand believes a Porn site makes the country look bad, or disgraces it.  Sure they have a digital media law in-place but things like that are totalitarianism in nature and a control issue.  I think the main issue was that there was a couple of high profile people who had made a video and it ended up on the site from what I heard on the Channel 32 talk show last night where they spent 30 minutes discussing the pornhub ban.  Hilarious to spend so much time on something, besides that it has gone international as well, so who made themselves look funny, yes Thailand did.....lol

Can't make up my mind whether you are an aspiring politician, or want to be nominated for a Darwin award.

Good one for the literal-minded.

There's that sidewalk spot between soi 13 and soi 11 where a couple of the bib and a couple of friendly ladies stand or sit all afternoon about 6 feet apart. I can "see" them, but I can't see any difference between them, and those guys might as well represent the whole government. Maybe they don't want certain kinds of competition?

I just logged on to pornhub without using a vpn just to check it out and had no problem whatsoever.

Using 3BB internet in Khon Kaen.

Here we go.

Khon Kaen, that's the Hub.

Most performers come from that area.

By the way, on Friday, I will be in Khon Kaen for 1 night before driving further up northeast.

After the Digital Economy and Society (DES) Ministry blocked the popular adult website Pornhub on Monday night,

We have the right to "stand-up" to protect these sites for viewing...

he means https/www.............. not http/www. But google always gives the secure link it seems. Anyway, I never used pornhub but did check and it is readily accessible even with vpn turned off. One site that was blocked without vpn was far more interesting - Daily Wail, sorry, mail!

An activist group called Anonymous Party posted a statement saying: "We want to reclaim Pornhub. People are entitled to choices." Another group, using the hashtag #SavePornhub, called a demonstration for Tuesday afternoon.

Got to love some people's sense of humour.

FWIW, I do see potential harm in porn use, namely porn addiction which is an under-reported but very serious issue for large numbers of people, particularly within the younger generations.

However, I firmly believe that censorship is not the answer - like all prohibitive actions, it simply leads to black markets and other ways of circumnavigating the prohibitive measures.

The answer, as for so many issues in the world today, is education. By putting these issues in the open, harm can be greatly reduced; in the case of pornography, this would include education on the dangers of addiction to porn as well as regulation and protection for those working in the industry.

It all comes down to governments around the world treating adults as adults. It is essential that people are given the necessary information to make their own decisions and look after themselves without any "tough parenting" from the state.

This is the only way forwards IMHO - prohibition never has worked, doesn't work and never will work.

The education alternative does have the potential to reduce harm. But of course, like most things worthwhile, it is difficult to implement and will take time...

You nailed it.

I come out of my corner:

I admit, I am addicted.

We will have every Wednesday night a meeting.

Just after the "anonymous alcoholics", we move to the next room, "anonymous pornaddicts"

I, for one, am glad they blocked those sites. Now I finally have enough time again to exhaustively patronize "massage" parlors, Turkish "baths", "hostess" clubs and other "entertainment" venues, lending a more active "hand" in helping save the economy.

As per our MPs and cabinet members (including minister Puttipong), I really pity them. What are they supposed to be doing now when sitting through mind-numbing parliamentary sessions?

That lot are always at their best sitting round tables making up laws that we are supposed to obey.

It got banned because someone was seen vaping without the regulation 2 years in jail or paying 100,000 bt fine ????

On the subject of vaping, I've seen quite a number of videos from one particular Bangkok blogger which always show several girls vaping outside nightclubs. Yet another law that is ignored and not enforced. Actually, nearly everything is illegal in Thailand, so it's a good thing the authorities take no notice.

It seems that xhamster and other porn sites that often display the dame clips as Porn Hub have not been targeted. Hmm. I wonder what the real reason for going after Porn Hub was.

Twitter will tell you.

When you are looking at a country where...

> most males worth their salt proudly maintain several "mia nois",

> even the smallest hamlet has at least one or two "entertainment venues" of a certain kind,

> many oh-so-holy monks are taking their celibacy vows not particularly seriously,

> a large proportion of females have conceived children from different fathers,

> a huge amount of underground porn (both in print and videos) is produced domestically,

> "luk thung" performances often are replete with sexually charged dancing in skimpy costumes,

> every "cafe" (cabaret) show brims with kinky jokes,

> and where the incident of teen pregnancies is by far the highest in Southeast Asia,

...even the most ignorant person surely must realize that the hollow excuses of "protecting national morals" and "preventing young people from accessing inappropriate content" that led to the blocking are nothing but hypocritical and dishonest.
