On the day when the new RTP chief has announced a new level of "transparency" at police checkpoints comes news that a motorcycle policeman appears to have taken a bribe.

A clip went viral on "Khao Den Clip Det Facebook 2" ( ข่าวเด่นคลิปเด็ดเฟซบุ๊ก 2) that purported to show a cop taking a 100 baht backhander from a ten wheel truck driver.

The incident happened in the Thanyaburi police jurisdiction in Pathum Thani province north of Bangkok.

Provincial chief Maj-Gen Chayut Marayat ordered Thanyaburi station chief pol Col Wiwat Asawawiboon to check if this was really a policeman and if it was really a bribe.

If true he was instructed to set up a disciplinary committee forthwith.

Daily News further reported that the provincial chief had done a video conference call with all his station chiefs yesterday morning warning them all to behave appropriately.

The news comes on the day new RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk has announced new "transparent measures" for police checkpoints checking for DUI. A big show is planned for the new system tonight outside Thong Lo police station in Bangkok.

It was just change.

The good hearted man in uniform gave the starving citizen a 500baht note and told him to keep 400.

The honest citizen promptly gave him 100 baht change back.

Soon, he will be promoted to "Major General".

That policeman was a cheap charlie only taking 100 Baht his boss told him at least 500 baht

It comes complete with transparent posts for officers behaving non-transparently.

If true, why does it need a committee? If not true, why does it need a committee? And, no doubt, there will need to be a committee to choose the members of the committee. And so on, until it's forgotten.
