Anyone going to Kanchanburi vintage bike show?

Featured Replies

Too far at mo, will be interesting to see what Thais consider vintage. ????

I've been almost every year since 2012 and will be riding there this Saturday as well.
It's a very nice event. Lots of vintage bikes and cars and the crowd is very easygoing and laid back.

There is a huge field for visitors parking, as well as a football sized field with special bikes and cars/trucks.

I recommend bringing ear plugs. They usually have 2-3 smaller stages with music as well as 1 main stage and they all play at the same time. This is my greatest pet peeve about the whole meeting.

Other than that it's great.

Neat blog !

Wow - just a little bit "out of the way" - being the location is about 70 kms NE from Kanchanburi

I'm actually heading to Kanchanaburi tomorrow morning. Early tomorrow morning (I plan on leaving Pattaya by 5:00.)

However, after a couple stops for photos I'll be heading down to Ratchaburi to meet with friends that are leaving Pattaya later in the morning. Then on the 7th we are heading to Petchaburi for a bike party.

Why would they hold this event so far off the "beaten track" I wonder ?

Maybe because the road from Kanchanaburi to the event is very enjoyable and the venue itself is set in a beautiful national park? Would you rather have it in stinking Pattaya?

Actually I was thinking that if it were held somewhere in/around Kanchanaburi itself, they might get a better turn out.

By chance does that "beautiful national park" practise double pricing like many others do ?

No, free entrance to the park, but I think about 100Baht to park inside the meeting place.

Actually I looked it up. It's 100 baht for Thais and 300 for Foreigners. Worse for kids. 50 baht for Thai kids but 200 for Foreign kids.
However I don't think you actually enter the park to get to the dam (at least it doesn't look like that on the map).

Erawan National Park - http://park.dnp.go.th/visitor/nationparkshow.php?PTA_CODE=1011
"อัตราค่าบริการเข้าอุทยานแห่งชาติ

ชาวไทย : ผู้ใหญ่ 100 บาท เด็ก 50 บาท

ชาวต่างชาติ : ผู้ใหญ่ 300 บาท เด็ก 200 บาท"

"National Park Entrance Fee

Thai citizens: 100 baht for adults, 50 baht for children.

Foreigners: adults 300 baht, children 200 baht"

There is a small (Provincial) park nearby (the Time Memorial Park) which is free.

(It seems that most National Parks practise dual pricing.)

Unless they will change it this year (which I highly doubt), all other years the entrance has been free.

This is where you go off the main road and enter the park.

Here they will just let all the bikes go through. NO NEED TO PAY and no dual pricing.
