Good luck to get a commitment that they won't cause nerve damage !

I think there are two different procedures being discussed here: one being prostate removal surgery which can have severe outcomes because of nerve and bladder damage and which was more prevalent before the da Vinci Robotic surgery machine came into being, which at the hands of a skilled operator can alleviate many of the older problems.

Then there is the TURP procedure which basically "reams" out the overgrown tissue INSIDE of the prostate and leaves the prostate intact, to all intents and purposes. I posted regarding the outcomes, however BritManToo has miscalculated the results so I suggest you do some of your own research.

To they who suffer.

I sent two mails Monday and Wednesday to BNH and got no reply.

I sent private message to electrified and he gave me a second web site to try.

I mailed this morning and below is the reply.

Dear K. John William,

Thank you so much for your email and my apology for not-reply-email from our side. I will forward your feedback with the team so they can improve the services in the future.

Regarding your inquiry, yes we will bring Rezum in BNH very soon in next year.

For this year, we've just brought itind, another non-invasive treatment for BPH here in BNH. We are the first hospital in Thailand providing this treatment at present.

More info here:https://www.itind.com/#

We totally understand the situation due to Covid-19 now. Hence, if it's possible, please let me know your phone number, I will arrange a free telephone consultation for you within today with our Urologist, Dr. Suntchai Wirotsaengthong, Head of M Centre, BNH hospital and hope that he can give some specific advice for your case.

Again, thank you for reaching out to us and for your valuable feedback. We really appreciate that.

Should there is any further assistance required in BNH, please feel free to contact me directly via this email or M Centre official Whatsapp below.

Have a good day ka,

Many Thanks and Kind Regards,

John now a happy boy

@jonwilly was there any mention of a price for the Rezum or the Itind ? Whats the location of BNH Hospital ?

Thanks

I just read the FAQ ,(Itind) if one has a very large  size  walnut then this might not help. Also it only lasts for 3 years !

The above treatment would be ok if the price was right .

For those of you who have a prostate larger than 80cc, hence unsuitable for most of the new procedures such  as rezum, urolift, etc there is now Aquablation, FDA approved a couple of years ago and becoming available in Europe, UK, US.

I am seriously considering it as my combined Doxazosin & Finasteride medication has resulted in retrograde ejaculation.

Also, it might be good to know that combined medication or even Flomax have more side effects than any of the new procedures. That depends of course on how much you value your ejaculation; as far as I am concerned I have sex two or three times a week, get mind blowing orgasms, but I have to come "in vivo", "in vitro" would be a massive loss of face. My porn actor career now depends on Aquablation.

Doxazosin and Finasteride are old medications and have a greater degree of side effects, There are newer medicines with less or no side effects.

As far as Aquablation, good luck finding it in Thailand any time soon.

No sarcasm intended but what you say is a "reality" ! Its not often talked about because of social stigmas  and embarrassment . On several occasions , the  RE problem has left women in doubt whether I completed the task.

I prefer to be able to P normally again ! The medicines have out lived their purpose (7years).  The RE problem that I'm facing with the Doxazosin & Finasteride is my least concern.

I had an Ultrasound on Friday afternoon at CM Ram hospital.

I was told my Prostate gland is Normal size.

Since the early 1990s Drs have been telling me I have an enlarge Prostate Gland and that this was reason I pass urine frequently.

I will suggest that about ten Urologists have carried out their immediate check of well lubricated finger up back passage to feel size of prostate.

I sent report to my Dr at BNH Bangkok and received a reply from him yesterday. He says the REZUM procedure would not be useful.

At this moment I am quite lost as to my future plans.

Ten say enlarged, one says not enlarged.  Perhaps you should have a second ultrasound done to see if it confirms not enlarged before you proceed assuming not enlarged.  Get one done at Sripat or someplace not Ram.  Cost is not excessive considering what you are looking at in the future.

Dear Mr. John,

Your Prostate size is considered normal size, so we need to find out about your urination symptoms. Difficulty and frequency of urination could be caused by many other factors such as bladder problem or urethral stricture. Rezum may not be the final answer for your case.

I would suggest more investigation such as uroflowmetry and cystoscopy. I think we really need to find out the root cause of your problems.

Please contact my staff, Ms. Emily if arrangement for the tests is required.

--

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Suntchai Wirotsaengthong,M.D.

As to size of my prostate, the Dr who did the ultrasound scan told me the prostate was normal and showed me on the computer screen. I trust this Dr.

  • 2 months later...

The Ongoing Saga For my Fellow suffers.

I see my family Dr every three months for a Blood Check and general chat on my heath.

I mentioned the problems I have had over passing of urine of a night.

How for 28 Years about 10 Drs had told me I had an Enlarged Prostate Gland, Rubber glove, lubrication and finger up Bum, and that an ultrasound check had led to me understand my prostate was of normal size.

My Dr suggested I visit the Senior Urologist at McCormick Hospital, which i did yesterday.

Very long talk followed by a second Ultrasound.

Prostate enlarged.

I am now considering my future plans.

I take them both, Doxazosin 2x 2mg (1bht/tablet) every evening, Finasteride 1x 5mg (15bht/tablet) every other evening.

No side effects at all, wee normally all day most days.

Frustration is a understatement,  Jon !

How big is it, did they say !  Some Dr's talk in terms of finger size or grams. How is your urine flow,on a scale of 0-10 with 10 being a race horse?

I've been doing meds exactly the same as you !  The Dr. said my prostate has gone from a 3 finger width to a two . I 've been on meds since 2015. This year (2 months ago) has been the first time its actually shrunk "according to the Dr. "

I asked why now after all of these years ! Finistride! 555.

So he suggested that I didn't need a Turp at this time!

I told him my flow is very slow ! Come back next year,he said,555

Prostate gland is partially obscured with bone and measured about 5.2 by 5 by 4.1 cm and wieght of 53 g and volume of 51 ml.

Impression. Enlarged prostate gland with left renal cyst.

Flow sometimes drip drip on other occasions flows clean, but no pressure.

I am now trying

Doxazosin 2x 2mg (1bht/tablet) every evening, Finasteride 1x 5mg (15bht/tablet) every other evening.

I will try for one month my next alternative will be BNH hospital in Bangkok for their B150,000 REZUM treatment.

Is the Senior Urologist at McCormick the youngish guy who has a large clinic by the exit of Central Festival?

John, the Finasteride takes 5-6 months or more to work so doubtful you will feel any relief in a month. And I would recommend Alfuzosin over Doxazosin. Alfuzosin is 3rd generation and time-released over 24 hours. It does not lower your blood pressure like Doxazosin does.

Dear Mr. John Williams ,

Greetings from Bumrungrad International Hospital.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Regarding your inquiry, we have it forwarded to the concerned department. We will get back to you shortly, once information is available.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I have had the prostate enlargement for many years and tried various tablets. I find that I get along better without tablets and as I mentioned 2 Brits have spoken well of the Steam treatment.

More as they inform me.

john

Have you tried stinging nettle root? It is a miracle supplement for me. Mine is enlarged, but my BPH is normal. One day without it and I have difficulty urinating. Two a day and all is good. It works for a more minor condition of just enlargement of the prostate.

I get it from Swansons when I am in the US. Have friends here who regularly order it, and other supplements from iherb. But, I think it might be available locally. You need high potency. At least 500mg. per cap, preferably.

Well, I'll give it a go ..........

$6.50 for Swansons 100 tabs from iHerb, $42 for 500 tabs inc post.

I tried Saw Palmetto but it didn't do anything.
