A night restaurant was ordered to close for five years by authorities in Trang province after it was found to be selling alcoholic beverages to youth aged between 17 and 18.

Early on Saturday, local officials, together with volunteers and police, were ordered by the provincial governor to check a night restaurant called “Matthayom” in Muang district, after some locals complained that the restaurant sold alcoholic beverages to youth aged under 20.

Police caught 37 youth aged around 17 and 18 during the raid, but some of them escaped.

Meanwhile, other evidence related to alcohol sales were found and confiscated by Muang Trang Police Station. Police said the restaurant owner would be prosecuted under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and the Child Protection Act.

Police will propose to the Trang governor to close the restaurant for five years, under the order of the National Council for Peace and Order. The detained youths were admonished and allowed to return home.

18 plus is I think okay in a public facility.

Under 18 they are finding other ways to drink via friends, the law needs to change with the times.

Ah, the good old NCPO orders that no one has authority to amend or cancel.

So, the place is not yet closed, nor was it ordered to close. Police will propose, they haven't even proposed it yet, and the Trang Governor will have no choice, probably.

Admonished and allowed to return home. Is that the same as getting a Police caution?

Change the law for <deleted> sake, just allow people to at least drink beers and smirnoff breezer drinks from the age 16. Would also help them to not go for yaba instead which many teenagers start using out of boredom (being not allowed into any bars).
