Recommendation for a quality 4 port USB power and data hub

Featured Replies

My current 4 port USB hub has decided that after 6 months of use it's time to stop working.
This is a typical Chinese cheapo hub that are available from most department stores.  About all it was useful for was as a power source for my external speakers and my laptop cooling pad.  I could plug a mouse into it but beyond that it was pretty useless.  You couldn't transfer data though it.  Even my keyboard would not work with it.

So I'm looking for experience from others who have used a quality hub that will work as a UBS power source but also as a hub that is robust enough to drive a mouse, keyboard, or transfer data from an Andriod phone, USB thumb drive, or a Wifi extender.

Anyone have a recommendation for a make/model/brand that you have used and found to work well.  Appreciated. Thanks.

You don't write if it is for USB 3 and if it should allow to connect an external power source. In respect of the latter you need to be careful since some of them don't disconnect the USB power then. Just a remark in respect of one for USB 3. Normally they can be used on USB 2 also.

I find that Anker brand products are well made and reliable. I have several USB chargers and bluetooth speakers. Their range of USB hubs looks good too. USB hubs is something I have had issues with as they never seem to have enough power for running external drives. Both Anker and Ugreen brands are good though you will likely still have to power the hub.

I have one computer with a USB 3 port but my other does not. So in this case I'm looking for a USB 2 hub.
