Covid-19 in Chiang Rai ?

Featured Replies

We have relatives living close to Mae Sai and have just been advised of numerous local Covid-19 cases in the border area, presumably in Myanmar.  Apparently the area close to the border is in lockdown.

Nothing yet on major media.  Anyone have more information?

The recent case in Chiangmai came from Myanmar to Maesai, by van to Chiangrai then with the bus to Chiangmai.

New info - Tachilek or Tha Khi Lek. as the Burmese prefer it be called, is in lockdown.  Confirmed cases appear to be in the dozens.

There's an article in a national daily that cannot be linked here.

Apparently a Thai woman crossed the border, possibly illegally, on Nov 23rd and 326 contacts have been traced.

Could be a busy week.

Find this hard to believe. No Covid-19 in Thailand.

I have another beer and  rethink this.

Citation?

Victim #1 in Chiangmai was tested 26th and confirmed positive on 27th. Victim #2 in Chiang Rai was tested on 28th and confirmed positive on 29th.

Since test results take a bit longer than pouring another beer, dozens of 'confirmed cases' may be a specious claim.
