Suvarnabhumi Airport - OPENING ...............................................

Featured Replies

Last report was that the Thai gov't was thinking about opening for international travel after the Chinese New Year.

I just heard that the first lot of13 million doses of the vaccine will be available the middle of 2021.  That would mean that foreigners would be allowed in without the Thai people being vaccinated ! ! !

Any updated info would be appreciated.

i believe it's 26 million doses, enough for 13 million people

thailand is currently open to foreign travellers, albeit with fairly strict rules

Suvarnabhumi Airport has never closed.

Though a runway or two may have been repaired.

Weird and misleading title. As pointed out above, Suvanabhumi has not closed and though most flights are domestic there are some international. The midfield terminal is almost ready (not that it is required now).

The fact that Thais can only be vaccinated from mid 2021 on is due to the lack of any planning in obtaining vaccine supplies (and of course going for the cheapest stuff). In some countries (USA, UK) vaccination has already started and in Holland, for instance, it will start on Jan 8th https://sg.news.yahoo.com/dutch-may-not-ready-covid-151534220.html and probably earlier in some other European countries. Singapore has just approved the BionTech-Pfizer vaccin and vaccination is expected to start in January too https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/news/singapore-pfizer-biontech-vaccine/
