After market sunroof

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever had a sunroof fitted to their car in Thailand?

If so, how did it go and what kind, glass,, partial opening ( back edge raises an inch or two ) or even Webasto style, like the old style Citreon 2CV?

I have never heard of anyone ever doing this in Thailand, or for that matter in my home country.

Good luck tho.

I would be very concerned about Structural integrity....once you cut out a big hunk of the roof you lose some of the strength that the body had as a whole. Not to mention that while it sounds like a great idea in December....from March thru October..not so much

The frame of an after-market sun roof replaces that (very small, if any) loss of strength.   Sun roofs don't require a "big hunk of the panel to be cut out".    The roof's structural parts are not compromised in any significant way.

Yes, on a good quality fitting the frame of the sunroof compensates for the effects of cutting the hole.

Note expression 'good quality'. ????

It would have been easier for my uk mate to bring one from uk a few months ago, but that's gone for a ball of chalk.

The car already has a steel sunroof and in uk a glass type of the same size with frame is available, here is a different ball game.
