Reporters from the media went to Walking Street, Soi 6, Bua Khao and Sai 3 and found no alcohol being served in pubs and restaurants that were open. Most were shut up and 77kaoded went with that caption "Entertainment Shutdown" on their photo of a deserted street. The booze ban came into force at 6pm on Saturday and lasted for 24 hours for the elections on Sunday. Thaivisa notes that downtown Pattaya had been very quiet on Friday night with little sign of visitors from Bangkok. With Thailand jittery from a Covid-19 outbreak in Samut Sakhon the outlook for the Christmas and New Year holidays looks bleak. I do realise that this alcohol ban was due to other political desires but when all the closures over a year are taken into account many workers miss out on the income no matter how meagre that may be effecting the entire community. There are 1000's of towns all over the world that are having the same problem without tourists.
