CHAI NAT (NNT) - The Prime Minister’s Office Minister, Anucha Nakasai, traveled to Chai Nat province to examine COVID-19 screening points, while relaying a message of concern from the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, urging the people to have confidence in the government’s proactive measures.

Mr. Anucha inspected a screening point in front of Wang Kai Thuean Municipality in Hankha district, Chai Nat, and delivered 200 bags of relief supplies to the needy. The minister also joined a "Big Cleaning" event at Song Sawoei Temple in Wat Sing district. The event was aimed at limiting the spread of the virus. The minister then inspected COVID-19 screening points in Khung Samphao subdistrict and Chai Nat Bird Park.

After six people tested positive for the disease in Chai Nat, the Prime Minister’s Office Minister said provincial administrators have taken proactive measures to limit its spread by controlling areas where transmissions recently occurred. He relayed Gen. Prayut’s message, saying the Prime Minister is concerned about the situation and asks the people to have confidence in the government’s proactive measures.

What?

They've done nothing but react since this started. A proactive measure would be a travel ban over the New Year, or a national lockdown, long before we get to the tens of thousands of cases a day threatened by the CCSA guy earlier.

In other words, "We think we can stop COVID-19, but if we fail it's not our fault." ????

The cooperation of the public is vital  He is stating a fact. You seem to be point scoring for the sake of it. Please enlighten us all. How did they do things better in your country?

We do not have so why should we comply, lock-downs are only for those that have the disease.

Where did you get that idea from. Lockdowns are used to PREVENT people getting the infection not just to contain people who have it. People who have the infection are treated, usually in hospital. What you state is entirely erroneous.

We know the majority of the people will not cooperate. They had better have a national lock-down right now.

We know the majority of Thai people WILL cooperate based on past patterns of behavior in recent months. I am here now and was here then. The majority of Thais followed medical directives and suggestions. To suggest otherwise is incorrect. Perhaps you were not here to see it.

The majority isn't enough though for an infectious disease, as has been shown by people illegally crossing the border. Those are in population terms a 'minute number' of people, not just a 'minority'.

It needs absolutely everyone to cooperate to stop the spread, including the irresponsible government ministers who don't wear face masks. Perhaps they think they can claim diplomatic immunity?

It is the attitude of many Thai's, that's why they don't use the Thai-Chana track & trace, don't enter their details correctly in the books provided, wear masks incorrectly (except when passing a checkpoint) and try to walk around the shops staff checking temperatures and doling out hand cleaner.

Where I live in LOS everyone adhered to the 'lockdown' period (about 3 months I think it was in our neck of the woods) and other measures very strictly. NO ONE did otherwise for many many months. This is why the infection rates fell through the floor very quickly, and the death toll as well, and an absence of any significant outbreaks also fell away, other than the odd one or two cases of course which by world standards was remarkable. This has been the norm for many months here. Unlike some 'civilised (hardly) enlightened' countries where they are dying pretty much like flies and a large section of their populace couldn't give a damn as long as they aren't sick.

The same as they co-operate in no drinking/driving, wearing helmets/seatbelts.
