Here's a challenge Bedlamites.....

1,284,141 posts, and every question about Thailand has already been asked?

Your challenge is to post a reasonable question about Thailand that the others cannot find an existing answer for somewhere in the archives.

If you win, Yorky has agreed to drink a beer on your behalf.

Lose and you have to clean out Suegha's cage.

Ok, ask your questions....

By "answer" do you mean definitive answer or someone's opinion? For instance, if I asked about the soi dog overpopulation problem, I can name offhand at least 6 recent (ish) threads about them in various subforums. However, no definitive answer has ever been reached. You have the culling brigade, who take pleasure in thinking of the nastiest way possible; those like me, pumpuiman & sbk who advocate neutering & the "fluffy kitten" brigade that just feed them & see no problem at all. So, plenty of posts, but no answers.

Do you just mean if there's never been a thread about a subject?

Always up for a challenge so here goes "what is the average number of deaths (per year) by snake bite in Thailand?"

I was thinking of putting this up in the pets and pests forum but your post changed my mind and have tossed it in here.

thanks in anticipation

ok i have research this and given it a lot of thought.... here goes-

"are bar girls trustworthy?"

I always hear from tourists that death by coconut is one of the leading causes of death in Thailand and I would love to know the statistic for that one too (snake bite is a good one tho, I have to admit, Crow Boy).

You're joking aren't you? This is a wind up right?

OK there have been at least 6,973 threads covering this and the most recent (and still ongoing) is trust

Hey seugha mittheimp is coming over to do some housework for you

SBK very good - I had forgotten the "don't sleep under the coconut tree because you will die when one falls on you" theme.

I was thinking about the snakes because with the rains up here there are a lot more to be seen on the roads catching some warm and chasing the new frogs etc. I had sent a letter to my family about the deaths over Songkran and my dad asked me about other causes. I was going to do some research on such things and then have a sub forum on death by urban myth ie the number of men who are killed by a jilted/jealous husband who cut of their penis, attacks by sword wielding bike gangs on the Chiang Mai ring road etc.

fyi in the cocos and keeling islands plus the Cook Islands death by coconut does occur. The crabs climb up and snip of the coconuts and they crash to the ground. It isn't common but there are signs up warning people about them. In Fiji recently, Keith Richards fell out of a coconut tree trying to climb one and nearly broke his neck. If he had landed on someone would it have been recorded as death by a falling stone?

Does a falling stone gather moss?

If he thought he could smoke it I'm sure he would. :o

Has anyone tried to tunnel down to the centre of the earth starting in Thailand?

ps Be careful when cleaning my house out - I am meticulously clean!

I always hear from tourists that death by coconut is one of the leading causes of death in Thailand and I would love to know the statistic for that one too (snake bite is a good one tho, I have to admit, Crow Boy).

Coconut injury expert Professor Peter Barss of McGill University, who was presented with an Ig Nobel award at Harvard University last year for his paper "Injuries due to Falling Coconuts," reports that coconuts weigh up to 4 kilos [8.8lbs] and can easily fall 25 metres [80 feet] from the top of the tree. This gives them an impact speed of about 80 km/h [50mph], walloping humans with a force greater than a tonne. :D

"Coconuts kill around 150 people worldwide each year, which makes them about ten times more dangerous than sharks," says Brent Escott, managing director of Club Direct [insurance]. "People may worry about being bitten by sharks when visiting Australia, but I would suggest that we would be better advised not to sit under coconut trees."

Sharks are relatively docile. Worldwide, they attacked just 79 people in 2000, killing ten of them, three of whom were in Australia."

Don't know about Thailand though, but I had 2 'near' hits in the past by a falling coconut, both in the same week on Samui..... :o:D

I read in the Bangkok post that the contractor up in Chiang Mai has abandoned that Thaksin era project. The project spec said the hole had to be deep enough to bury all his money. But now he's found a hole with more capacity into which to thrown his money. It's called the UK property market.

Here's one that's never been satisfactorily answered:

How to keep soi dogs from peeing on your vehicle's tires? :o

Or and I am sure I read this in TV also on a Pets and Plants thread - put a couple of soft drink bottles filled with water next to the tires on the footpath. No one really knows why but dogs won't water the tires if one is there.

So that is two for CB and one for Kan Win and I have now got seugha's den well and truly set up for spring cleaning

Install a block heater and re-route the current to the axel. :D

Here's one (and if it's already been done, i don't care cos i want to know the answer anyway) :o

Where does Sukumvit Road actually start and finish.

Well, I'm sure there are a number of questions that either have never been asked, or were never answered, for various reasons.

Some questions, being of a "taboo" nature (and in contrevention of forum rules) may have been asked, but the thread was most likely closed/deleted before it was answered.

Some questions may have been answered, but again, the thread(s) (along with both the question and answers) have been deleted. Therefore they won't be found anywhere in the archives (especially with the search engine used here).

Here is a question that has (probably) never been asked before:

If all the slender/skinny poor, sweet, and innocent farm girls in Thailand were put on one side of a scale, and all the obese/balding, sour-pussed single Western males were put on the other side of the scale, would it balance ? :o

Another question:

How much would it cost to have, say, Bambina, travel through-out Isaan to treat every sick buffalo in the region ? Would it be cheaper in the long run than the method currently being used ? :D

Another question:

If a man has a sex-change (in Thailand), he/she becomes a "woman of the second category". If he/she decides to go back to being a man again, what category would she/he fall in to ? ("Man of the second category" ? "Woman of the third category" ?) :D

While not having read all 1.2+ million posts (875,492 of which probably consist only of 1 or 2 smilies), I am pretty sure the above questions have probably never been asked before (on ThaiVisa or perhaps any other site as well).

So, I make that 4 beers for Yorkie, and 4 weeks of cleaning out Suegha's cage for cdnvic ! :D

<<edit to change 3 beers/weeks to 4 beers/weeks)>>

Does a falling stone gather moss?

OI!

I Know I am hot, but I don't smoke :D

Now you're just being silly! :o

If a man has a sex change operation in Thailand and then subsequently strikes up a sexual relationship with a woman would it be a heterosexual or lesbian relationship?

I sometimes wonder about you - at the very least you would make a fascinating psychological study. What if he now she had a sexual relationship with another transgender who was a she made into a he?

There was recently a thread by a guy asking if it was okay for him and his buddies to engage in a bit of cross dressing and parade themselves down walking street. Of course the consensus of opinion was that nobody would notice. :D

But that set me thinking :o , always dangerous I know. What if a Saudi national came to Thailand and did the same, would he wear a burqa? :D

Eddie Izzard, an English, gay, cross dressing comedian has stated in serious interviews that he prefers women to men, and considers himself a lesbian.

I don't know if that answers your question :D .......

They seem as aggressive as as anyone else so there must be some incentive there. Can't be all acting.
