What are people going to do now that nearly all of the UK are in Tier 4?

Could we say we will go Thailand on Tourist Visa and then we will get job there (Which I actually plan to do)?

Who is going to ask?  A single traveller ought to be able to produce a reasonable legend re. their reasons for travelling.  Rocking up at LHR with the missus, 2 kids and buckets and spades might be more problematic.

True ....I bet they ban international flights again though

How have we allowed the government to have so much power?

Are you talking about the Thai government? Why would they do that? Their quarantine for air arrivals has been successful and consistently supported by the Thai citizenry in general. People are now a bit ticked off that they've managed to take their eye off the ball, well, the borders.

Did they (UKGOV) ban international flights?  There was FCO guidance not to travel (which invalidated insurance, etc) but I don't recall there actually being no flights.  Flights disappeared as there were no passengers.

As for their power there has been quite some blurring between what is law and what is guidance.  GOV like to present everything as if its legally enforceable, plod have on numerous occasions said they are reluctant to enforce even the things they could.  As for travel there is a get-out that whatever rules apply can be overridden with a "reasonable excuse".

So what happens if you print boarding pass online 48 hrs before while in Tier 2 and then before you leave for airport you are put in Tier 4?

I think as long as you have clear covid negative you should be allowed to travel

No recommendations from the U.K.s not to travel to Thailand and anyone arriving from Thailand doesn’t have to self isolate currently.

Tier 4 residents can't get to the airport without a valid reason and travelling to Thailand (unless for work and maybe a couple of other things) isn't one.

I doubt very much there will be roadblocks stopping people going to the airports, we don’t have enough Police for that.My daughter is out shopping here, tier 4 area, very busy queues outside the supermarkets, the U.K. people don’t have the discipline or the number of Police to force people to adhere to the regulations. The majority have the couldn’t care less attitude, no masks, no social distancing etc and now there is a vaccine they think Covid will go away.  There will be another spike in the U.K. in a couple of weeks as people have been meeting up at Christmas and New Year in houses.

Full lockdown now so not worth coming

Well no curfew.... and I am still unclear about alcohol sales. Bought a few cases last night, and the distributor said they had no plans to close, but there was certainly a rush on so a ban was a concern. Restaurants were take out only, for a few hours, then allowed to do sit down, again nobody sure if alcohol could be had with the meal! Basically a confused situation. I think the police like it like that! Today is a holiday so hopefully the powers that be will keep quiet and not muddy the waters further. Let us hope these restrictions are short lived.

Pretty sure there won't be.  They shouldn't be needed but some people are determined to ignore the rules.

Last time we had lockdown and very little covid, now covid is on the verge of exponential growth and people are reluctant for lockdown, makes sense as usual. If they can't stop it now they might as well give up with lockdowns and let it burn, those vulnable can self isolate the next year

The provinces with a lot of cases are in a lockdown or for the hardest hit areas.

They are reluctant to lockdown for the entire country since there are many places with no cases or only 1 or 2.

Yes, no point locking down a whole country when no cases in certain areas but lifting restrictions yesterday in Pattaya may prove to be unwise

I don't have any up to date info about the recent cases to voice an opinion about it.

There are already some districts of Bangkok in a partial lockdown.

Two more deaths and 279 new cases today. I wish I had a source to break those down to region or even province.

This map has info by province by clicking on the province. https://covid19.ddc.moph.go.th/en

A quick glance tells me most of the new cases appear to be in Bangkok, Chonburi and Rayong.

There should be a more detailed report in the news later.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not....

Do you always trust your government?

Would you Bomb innocent Iraqi civilians on government orders because they say Iraq has WMD's, Would you lead Jews into the Gas Chamber under the order of your Nazi Government............Extreme examples but you should never trust your government is being truful all the time

Governments can become tyrannical, and the UK's government certainly is!

There is 100% fullproof evidence lockdowns - DO NOT WORK.

Fullproof, or foolproof? The lockdowns are the least what a government wants to do.

But if the folks do not listen, they have to do it.

Would you rather have the COVID-19 spread faster?

Of course flights should be heavily curtailed or banned to prevent the disease spreading.
