PHUKET: All arrivals from the “highest-risk” areas within the ‘red zone’ provinces must now quarantine for 14 days on arriving in Phuket, following an order issued by Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew today (Jan 9).

The order was publicly posted by the Phuket office of the Public Relations Department this afternoon.

The order is marked to be in effect from today through Jan 31, or “until the situation is resolved”.

(from the link to Phuket News article)

"Quarantine at home (Home Quarantine) or a hotel (Hotel Quarantine) under the supervision of the communicable disease control officer for a period of 14 days."

Those required to quarantine appear to have the option to do so at home. There's no way this can be monitored 24/7.

As we have seen so many people disregard the rules for their own personal interests, this appears to be a really weak link if Phuket is seriously trying to prevent a covid outbreak.

Friends from us stay currently at ASQ state Quarantine in BKK and can leave the hotel tomorrow morning aftre their mandatory 15 nights.
Then they take a plane to fly to Phuket and go back to their house in Rawai.

Another friend arrived at BKK this morning and started his quarantine today, and at the end of his quarantine he also comes back to his house in Phuket.

So question: people coming out from state quaratine, do they need to undergo another quarantine when arriving on Phuket Island? I think this wouldn't be normal...

So, if you come from a non-red district (Chiang Mai) and transit through Swampy for 1.5 hrs on the way to Samui or Phuket, do you have to self-quarantine?

Thanks in advance

Where are these red zones?

The five provinces are Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Chon Buri, Chanthaburi and Trat, part of the red zone where maximum control is in place.
