I'm planning to build a small extension to one room and have a skylight window. Has anyone seen any of this type(picture attached) in any of the large homestores in Thailand? Ideally, I want one with good soundproofing. 

 

You may not find one off the shelf but there are lots of window/door manufactures that would make one on spec. My brother in-law just got new windows and doors retrofitted to an old house, everything was measured then custom made.

It's going to generate a lot of heat.

 

Unless you can shade it from the outside I would not recommend it

It's only going to be a small added room, approx 5x3 m.

 I have renovated 5 Victorian terraces in Sydney CBD.

A loft conversion using 6 Danish Velux windows was always the solution. 

Double glazed glass with blackout shades was suitable for ~40* Sydney weather.

Noise and sunlight is also attenuated.

Agree that you could have these windows custom built in Thailand.

Agreed, these European windows are double glazed, reducing heat and noise.

And a holland blind through a small pulley at the bottom end would add extra heat insulation on those very hot days, if need be.

I doubt a local window specialist would be able to make them as the specialist hinging, sealing and double glazing may well be beyond capability.

May be worthwhile looking on their website and making an enquiry about local supply.

The main thing I would be worried about is water leaking in around it.  Also what type of roof do you have?  With the typical concrete roof tiles I think it may be difficult to do.

This looks like Velux.

Very good windows I remember.

The Velux brand that others have mentioned is the way to go, if they are available in Thailand. They offer the proper flashing kits for them, for different types of roofing materials. The flashing is critical to have a leak free skylight, don't depend on caulk, it will eventually fail.
