Pattaya is not just fine dining and daytime activities - all matters mentioned in the rebranding of the resort this week.

It also has potential to be a place to visit if you're sick.

Sontaya Khunpluem, the go ahead mayor desperate to preside over  a new plan called Neo Pattaya, is keen to turn Pattaya into a "Medical Hub" to attract people from far and wide.

It is part of ambitious plans for economic development in the Eastern Seaboard known as the EEC or Eastern Economic Corridor.

Pattaya Update News reported that he received a delegation from Thammasat University who are keen to be part of this hub with their facilities at their Pattaya center.

City Hall and the university resolved to work closely on making this a reality.

Pattaya; The Hub of Hubs!

I thought it was the Sex Tourism Hub,  of the world.

Sounds like most places in Thailand, why single out Pattaya?

For the life in me I cannot understand these absolutely ridiculous ideas being sprouted over here on virtually a daily basis...what planet are they on...what "medication" are they taking...:coffee1:

Hubba, hubba... Pattaya should promote health and hooker packages. An escort of your choosing could stay with you in your room at the hospital to aid your convalescing... ????

Welcome to April 1st!  Amazing Pattaya!  Come to the medical hub of hubs (no vaccine by the way). Die from the air pollution!

Just when you though you've heard everything...

Interesting idea given that a test I wanted ( a simple urine flowmeter test ) was not available in Pattaya other than at  arguably the most expensive hospital in the country. Bangkok is surely a better bet given world-class facilities in most hospitals there and , frankly, better prices.

please name the countries who are letting their indigenous out?
Oz is not one of them.
daily the carrot called hope is dangled.

Having lived in P'ville for 40 years, my friends have instruction that under no circumstances am I to be taken to any of the hospitals in the area. Bangkok has wonderful hospitals at very reasonable prices !

I trust this idea won't stall the moon shot program !

Cool.  14 days in quarantine, 16 days to get medical assistance, then get the hell out - but leave your money farang.

Sadly it also was (is) the hub of those unable to afford the medical treatment available there.

It's always been a medical hub.

Plenty of full body checkup services available and if everything worked as it should you got great smiles everywhere.

Thailand seems to have a lot of hubs.  If they just put some wheels and tires on them they could go places.  Oh, and grease the hubs.

Because that's where I live.  Also the local police force need commending on their achievements on reaching the top spot in the accidents league.

You may want to check your stats

I guess since covid and no short time with the gals the hospitals are freed up.......as assumed they were treating STD back in the glory(hole) days..

And a bit of an uptrend in covid the married men are staying home, so less likely of the hospitals having to do "re=attachment" surgery from angry wives finding mia nois and giks ????

Chonburi has had a bad year, with so few tourists about the road deaths just aren't up to normal levels!

The newspaper that provides Thaivisa with our daily headlines says, ' the eastern provinces of Rayong, Chon Buri and Chanthaburi had the highest number of road fatalities at 65.53, 49.63 and 49.02 for every 100,000 people. Other high scorers were the provinces of Saraburi (48.06), Chachoengsao (47.55), Prachin Buri (47.19), Sa Kaew (45.97), Prachuap Khiri Khan (45.01), Ayutthaya (44.90) and Nakhon Nayok (43.06).'

I'm confused, you say at the top Chonburi is the most dangerous, but you back it up with information that shows Rayong is?

Are we really arguing about whether Rayong or Chonburi is the 1st or 2nd most dangerous province in Thailand? My initial comment was about Pattaya's infamous police force who are conspicuous by their absence after dark, every long weekend and high days and holidays.  I will concede that, just maybe, Rayong cops might be slightly lazier than Chonburi's.

Confused what we are arguing about, you keep going off on a tangent.
